Called today, 6/14/12 @ 2:32PM (Eastern).  Caller ID showed "PACIFICTEL".  We have received calls from PACIFICTEL in the past, but these calls come from different phone numbers and PACIFICTEL isn't always the name that appears on the caller id.  These numbers are all originating from Washington State (some Seattle area & others Tacoma area) and are all very similar.  Other phone numbers they've used in the past are:

    503-902-8479 (PACIFICTEL)
    503-468-5935 (PACIFICTEL)
    253-382-9904 (PACIFICTEL)
    503-902-8480 (Lower Interest)
    360-474-3989 (PACIFICTEL)
    360-529-6912 (Power One)
    360-529-6963 (AFFORDABLEVACCI)
    360-474-3939 (IND SUR GROP)
    206-496-0948 (IND SUR GROP)
    206-496-0953 (IND SUR GROP)
    253-382-9903 (PACIFICTEL) - this is today's call

We've answered before (recorded message regarding credit accounts and lowering interest rates) and hung up.  Another time I answered and was told I could get a free cruise if I participate in a political survey.  I hung up.  DO NOT FALL FOR THIS CRAP - DON'T EVEN ANSWER - IT'S A SCAM!!!.  They are trying to get your credit card information.  Many of the people who complained about the other numbers I've listed are also on the Do Not Call registry and have unlisted phone numbers.  If this was a legitimate company,  they would most likely be in compliance with Do Not Call.  In the sections where some of the other (above listed) numbers are reported, they are reported as Skype or spoofed so there may be no way to trace them and it's been said that reporting them to Do Not Call won't do a bit of good.

We get these calls on a regular basis and they started on and they started in mid-April.

These people are crooks. They want to rob you. They're not going to stop, they're not going to "take your number off their calling list". They are only interested in finding people stupid enough to give out their account info.

There must be a lot of stupid people out there, because these crooks keep calling. Tell everyone you know to NEVER EVER give ANY personal information to ANYONE who calls like this. It's the only way these calls will stop.

Telephone number belongs to shopnbc.  They use a lot of numbers  to harrass their customers.  Bill paid but still get calls all the time.  Can't imagine if i actually owed money to them.  Their constant calls would force me to leave the country.  Their HARRASSING calls start very early in the morning and continue way into the night.  I have had to turn my telephone ringer off..shopnbc has alienated their customers with bad products and incompetent, bottom of the barrell customer service.

I'm on the do not call list. Received call from this number 6/15 5:30 pm. Caller ID said "Lower Interest". When I answered I heard the same old "Hi, this is Rachel from Card Services" message. I pressed 3 to be removed from their list but I know that will not work. I'm going to get a very loud whistle. Next time "Rachel" calls I will press the option to talk to a representative and blow the whistle when they come on the line. Then maybe they will REALLY take me off their list!

The only way to get at them is to turn the tables and keep them on the line as long as possible. Act interested and friendly, but stall for time by pretending to yell at your kids for acting up, pretending to fish for your cards, anything that comes to mind. The key is to act interested and if you ask questions, ask them in a friendly, inquisitive way. Don't act challenging or they hang up on you.

I kept one on the line the other day for over 10 minutes. I made up fake numbers and incorrect expiration dates for my cards. He finally caught on and started to curse at me. I just cursed back. He was the one who hung up though. Haven't had any calls since. It's amusement for me (Sort of like my own personal Crank Yankers) to try to outwit the jerks and it's a public service. While I'm wasting their time, they can't call 5 or 6 other people who may be more gullible.

It helps to be able to swear like a sailor, because if they start to curse at me, I curse back at them. I'm a 60 year old grandmother, but I'm not easily shocked. My kids and grandkids would be shocked to hear the language I used.

I am on both the Federal Do Not Call List and my state's Do Not Call List and these SOB's keep calling regardless of do not call lists. Perhaps someone should physically render their so called business location unusable to put a stop to their crap. The State & Federal Do Not Call Lists have proven to be worthless with this spammer.

I"m still amazed that there are so many gulible people out there that freely give out their financial information to anonamous callers (scammers). The only thing that's worse is the amount of people who belive the DO NOT CALL LIST  will help them in any way. Two groups of equally stupid jerks! The goverment is in re-election mode and that's all that matters to them, helping themselves. Just wait a little longer & you will not only get scammer calls, you will also be getting robo calls from political reps (LIARS & SCUMBAGS) until your ready to throw your phones out. They are all a bunch of [***] from the same mold, cheats, liars, gutter snipe weenie washers out help their own agenda & [***] everyone else.

These people call and only numbers show up for their name it's obvious their not a real business because they have to conceal who they are. I don't answer or talk to people who don't reveal their identity from the start so they need to find someone who will fall for their trick. I have read the messages on here and see they are scammers so I will be blocking their call from now on. V06181223040035 shows up where the name goes on the caller ID and their number shows as 2533829903.

I am so tired of these people calling me.  I am a senior citizen and sometimes I hurry to answer the phone only to find an annoying pre-recorded message about my credit card.  There must be some way of stopping these people.

i got the call from "lower interest" last night.  this morning from "back pain relief".  i reported that number too.  it seems to me that these calls have increased in the last month or two.  same thing - odd area code, no answering machine message, anywhere from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.  if i recognize the number i will pick up otherwise let it go to the answering machine.  if it is a legitimate person (someone i want to talk to), i was outside having a smoke or checking the mail or something.  they know i won't lie to them.  heh, heh!  i love my caller id.

I went to "do not call.gov" and reported these calls. You do not have to be on the do not call list to lodge a complaint about a recorded message. So far it has worked.

    INCOMING CALL (Caller ID):  V06181405000031 (253) 382-9903
    Date:  18 June 2012
    Time:  1:05 p.m./ 1305 hours

Received the same caller ID, which started with a "V" followed by fourteen digits.  Unfortunately, Google does not recognize this numeration pattern.

If your caller ID shows a "V" followed by fourteen digits, don't answer.  With all the scams going around, you can register your cell phones and land lines with www.donotcall.gov.

Got a prerecorded call today at 3:21 p.m. from 253-382-9903. Caller ID said Lower Interest. Recording was of a woman who said she was Rachel from Cardmember Services, urgent that I respond to get lower interest rates, etc. Familiar with the Rachel scam so I pressed #1 to see what they would say. Cranky male answered with just "Hello," sounded irritated. Told him I pressed #1 to get more info about lower interest rates. He asked if lower rates on MasterCard, Visa, etc., would interest me, I said it would depend on rate. He offered rate "as low as 3%."  I asked how I could learn more, the person hung up. After a few clicks and beeps I heard a dial tone. (Previous "Rachel" call ended when rep hung up on me after I told her I did not have more than $3K in debt.) I thought these people were being prosecuted, why are we still getting these calls?

Turn it around on them and do what I did. Get a Digitone Call Blocker. Seriously, a solid 30% of all
calls coming into my house phone were from telemarketers, telescammers, politicians, survey takers,
and zombie debt collectors. Now they are all blocked. Once again, life is good. An alternative might
be to find a number that when you call it, gives you a message that the number is not in service. Then
you use your selective call forwarding and send all of your unwanted calls to that number.  Good luck
    all.

When they call me I have an air horn that you can buy at a sporting goods store. I hit the number to talk to someone too and then blast the air horn. I can tell you that it will not stop them. It only makes them mad and they will call you every hour for weeks on end.
