I am in Canada. Keep getting calls from this number apparently to help me locate the malware I am not aware off on my computer. I am 100% sure it is a scam. Windows Tech do not call people at their homes. BE WARE.

I am also in Canada, and recently experienced the same:
Microsoft calling about Malicious software originating on my computer.
I ended the call abruptly, with the suspicion it was a hoax with a bad ending.
Beware.

Got a call said it is about our windows program said he was with windows tech department. I told him it is 7:50AM and I
am very suspicous about a call of an urgent nature from Windows, so I took his number and his name Kevin Henry and
said I would call him back when I check it out. Now I see that others have had this same call. I live in new brunswick,
canada. I am sure it is a scam. Beware.

i got a call from this number and this is a legit call. this company works on microsoft windows computer. technicians fixed my computer and it's working fine now. i am very much satisfied with the services provided by these technicians. thank you !!

If you allowed them remote access to your computer they have probably taken your very sensitive information at the same time: your online banking info etc. at worst.

Again for Daniel: I also received that phone call; his name was "Charles", East-Indian accent.

also in new brunswick, canada,and called with the name Jim Parker supposedly from tech service in California.definitely a scam.I insisted on a call back number (this one)which is in Texas!

They are up to it again... I just got a call... they asked me to turn on my computer. (Both were on...) "Gary Wilson" sounded very East-Indian, and while he could possibly be in Texas, his requests--which I did not respond to--had "Scam" written all over it.

Got the call 2 days in a row, I am in New Brunswick also, do not give info over the phone,...

Call received january 24 @ 10:30 am a very strong Indian or Pakistani accent from someone pretending to work in Toronto's Microsoft office's for Windows 7 products with the name Will Martin (which can hardly spell). Very persistent nad talking very loud (rings any alert bells?) which is not professionnal at all.

I said my compter is all in French... then sir, I cannot help you but try to do this...
I asked for his postal code: cannot do that sir... (new alert bell?)
I then asked a phone number to have someone call him back...
He gave me the number.
But he insisted asking me to perform some tasks in m computer first...
I said I work for the government and that someone from my head office will be calling shortly... he hung up! :-)

I got a call from the number from a guy called Nick Williams with Indian accent. This guy was bossy, and tried to get all kinds of information and made me to buy their software; what is more he also threatened me to block my computer.

Answered a call at my grandma's house. The man on the phone had an East Indian accent. He asked if my computer was on. I asked who on the account he wanted to speak to. He gave my grandma's name. He then wanted me to perform tasks on the computer,  insisting that the computer was hacked and being used for illegal activity. I pressed for a number and he gave me 254-236-6545. Thus I came here seeing this SCAM for what it is. This incident occurred August 13, 2014. He said he would call back in an hour...

I  just asked them to remove me from their call list and the guy said he was going to "rob my computer"  sad
The  first time they called i asked them to hold on and then I hung up. He called back right away and asked me why i hung up! lololol
It showed up as "No Caller ID" but I asked them to give me a number to call them back and he gave this number

just received a call from fraud protection on my cc. I did not give them this info but did use the cc to purchase a laptop in june from newegg. wonder if newegg's database has been sold/compromised

Just got a call. I'm in the SF bay area.  They claimed to be from Microsoft Windows Technical Department.  I told him I don't own a computer...

Caller ID showed - Unknown/unavailable.  Lady said (speaking very poor English)  she is from MICRO something and your computer is causing problems.  Insisted on giving me the phone number of 254-236-9650 and the name of Mac Williams.  She even spelled it for me at least half a dozen times.  Wanted to argue with me and was very, very persistent.  Appeared to want to get me to pay for something.  I told her I would contact the police and have them call her.  She said o.k. and she would call back in half an hour.  At that point I hung up on her.  Note:  she also kept throwing out windows which didn't make sense.
