Country: British Virgin Islands
Report a phone call from 284-752-1312 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- BillyI get calls from this number(1(284)752-1312) 2-4 times a day. When i answer i get silence, then an automated female voice says goodbye.WTF? The national "Do Not Call List" is absolutely useless. I'm starting to believe this is the phone company's efforts to sell it's "Call Block" feature.NEVER.Muahahahahah.
- Caller: Alone at prez.
- Call type: Prank
- Aaagh| 1 replyReceived call from this company who was telling me that I had all sorts of things wrong with my computer. The caller was Indian. He wanted me to go on my computer so he could show me the problems. I didn't recognize the name of the company...really could not understand his accent. I told him I didn't do business with someone I didn't know over the phone and hung up.
- Caller: Don't know
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Bob FordWanted to fix computer. Obvious scam! Nothing is wrong with it. I fix my own anyway.
Someplace in Virgin Island.- Caller: out of area
- Call type: Telemarketer
- BrownThis guy name "Jack" has called me 2x. I mess with him cuz I know he is trying to scam computer. He has now called me a [***] and a [***]. I have also reported his number to the NDC list. Same as others have reported. British Virgin Islands, foreigner, sometimes a womans automated voice with a pause and then goodbye. I have gotten 2 men as well. RUDE, and will play right along with you as you tell them you know what they are trying to do.
- BillThe caller id actually is prefixed by 191 (which you probably don't see), so if you do call-return, you'll be calling INDIA and out big bucks. If you follow their instructions, they'll place a virus on your computer or smartphone so that your life will be theirs. The FCC has tried to act, but they didn't get much long-term relief. To make matters worse, my phone-provider (COMCAST) can't (won't) block any "international" calls.
- Caller: "Microsoft" (not)
- Call type: Telemarketer
- MEL| 1 replyI have received a number of these calls. Two in the last two hours. I say hello and nobody answers.
Then a lady's voice says "goodbye". If a real person answers, we have a poor connection and I keep asking them to speak louder, because I can only understand about each third word. Then I tell them we must have a very poor connection and would they hang up and call back. The connection never gets better (sorry!) There is no way they can tell and no reason for them to call you names. Here is a Suggestion: some of the newer digital cordless telephones have the ability to block calls according to their caller ID number. You store the number on your telephone and any calls that come in with that caller ID cause the phone to pick up the line, send a busy signal to the caller and then hang up.- Caller: Out of area
- GailWMy caller ID said: 912-284-752-1312. They call, I answer and there is nobody there. This tells me it's a random automated dialed call. I hang up before anyone answers. In February of 2013, I saw an article in Yahoo by Forbes. Below is a part of that article that talks about 900 numbers:
"900 Numbers: “Ring and run” scams are not new; when 900 numbers and pagers were popular in the days before the proliferation of the Internet and cell phones (it’s hard to believe that was less than a generation ago), criminals would page people asking them to return calls to such numbers. Eventually, people learned not to call back anyone with a 900 number."
When I entered the entire number into this site, there was nothing found, but when I entered the number without the 912, I found these comments. I've received many of these calls where the man on the phone (who sounds like he's from India, Nigeria or someplace foreign) tells me he's from Microsoft and that my computer has a virus. These guys just want access to your computer to download keystroke programs and viruses that will send everything you do back to them. I don't know how these can be stopped. The phone companies won't cooperate because they make money from these people.
As soon as you see it's a telemarketer or one of these callers on your caller ID, pick up the phone BEFORE it has stopped ringing then immediately hang up. Do NOT answer and speak at all. If you do this enough times, their system thinks the number is a bad number and your number will eventually be deleted from their list. Trust me. It works.
If you pick up the phone and talk or say anything, even if you hang up AFTER you have said Hello? or anything, they know they have a valid number and will keep calling you. - GailW replies to MELThanks for that suggestion. I didn't know about that. I'll have to check my instructions. My free-standing answering machine (as opposed to voice mail) had the ability to block all unidentified calls. I prefer to let the answering machine take my calls because of this feature and the fact that when I see on Caller Id that it's a telemarketer, I don't answer, they never leave a message. If I use voice mail, sometimes a recorded message is left anyway. Then I have to go in and delete it.
- GailW replies to AaaghI don't usually answer these calls, but one time when I got a call that I answered because the caller ID said Clearwater, FL and that's where I live. The guy said he was with Microsoft and they detected a virus on my computer.
I said, "No you're not. You're NOT from Microsoft." He said, "How you know that?" I said, "In the first place, they are located in Washington State and the ID says Clearwater, Florida. Calls from Microsoft would say Microsoft on the caller ID, NOT Clearwater." By this time he's screaming at me. I then said, "I'm computer literate and there is NO WAY anyone could tell if I had a virus without checking my computer WITH my permission and you don't have it. And lastly, they would NEVER hire someone who can't even speak English well enough so that people can understand them. You're just a crook who tries to take advantage of people to steal from them." With that I hung up.
I've submitted many complaints about these calls to the proper web sites but I don't think there is anything they can do because the calls come from outside the U.S.
I wonder if enough people told them they were on to them, if these calls would stop. Wishful thinking I guess. :-)
