- CGT| 1 replyCaller said he was from some type of company with "windows" in the name. He said that there was a problem a couple of weeks ago and then he asked me to turn on my computer so that he could show what the problem was. Sounded very fishy to me once he mentioned "windows".

Caller - "Hello, Mike? (pause) I am calling from Windows Microsoft. This is about your computer?"
Me - (thinking about how to extract more information from caller) - "Which computer?"

- Another Scammer I'm sure!!!1-24-13 - Just had a call from this Guy supposedly from Windows Microsoft, wanting to help me with my computer(ha Ha)---I ask where did he get my telephone number and he immediately hung up, and if you try to call him (he had the thick Indian accent) back, you can't get thru on this number, what can be done about this type of caller?
- RickThe caller told me that he was from Microsoft and that I reported a problem with my computer. I was having problems and had notified Microsoft of the issue. I went along with him and he did get some information. I found out from Dell that I in fact had a bug in the computer and now I need to re-install all my systems. HANG UP ON THESE JERKS!

- From IllinoisI received a call today from an Indian sounding guy. He said that he was from Microsoft Technical Support and did know my last night. He said that my computer had been running poorly and was causing great problems with the Internet. I asked how he got my phone number and he said that he worked for Microsoft and have all names and phone numbers associated with them. I decided to play along with the guy, so I said what do you need me to do. He told me to go turn on my computer. I said it was on. He asked me what I was seeing and I said my desktop. He then hung up on me.
I find it interesting that other people have had the same types of calls.
I work in this field and I know that what this guy was saying was bogus. Microsoft Technical Support would not be making calls about the computer running poorly and causing problems with the Internet. Microsoft cannot even see my machine through the firewalls. If my computer was causing problems, it would be my ISP calling. I suspected that he was trying to get confidential information, but figured out that I knew too much so he hung up.- Caller: supposedly Microsoft Technical Support...actually someone pretending to be them
- Nona| 1 replyjust called me and said had to do with Vista, I told him computers do not run with vista and he hung up

- Strange Coincidence--Senior scammedOn 2-14-2013 I phoned my computer security company, Norton, and reported I was having trouble logging on to Internet Explorer. The person helped me to fix it. He had an Indian accent (don't they all?). The very next day I received a call from the 288-918-6555 from a man with an Indian accent who said he was calling from Microsoft Windows. He told me Norton was unable to function properly on my computer because my warantee with Microsoft Windows had expired. He had me go through several operations to show me where my computer was infected with over 4000 errors. I had answered the phone from another room, so I didn't see the caller ID until after hanging up. Normally I don't even answer such calls if I see a strange number. I am so embarrassed that I believed this person.
He proceeded to sell me a "lifetime warrantee" with Microsoft that would keep my computer free of virus's and help Norton to operate. The cost was $29.00. I, stupedly, took the offer and gave my credit card number. He then said a technician would be clearing my computer of all virus's, not to use the computer until it finished and I would be getting an email from them confirming all of this. Prior to hanging up he said, "God bless you." He knew everything about me without ever having to ask. He even knew the age of my computer. The crazy screen continued for hours. I finally shut it down. When I saw the phone number, I contacted my phone company to try to find out where the area code was from. They could not locate it. Now I began to panic and proceeded to call Microsoft who told me they never call people unless someone contacts them and there is an open case and that this was surely a scam. I immediately called and cancelled my credit card and the police where I will be filing a report. I find this to be a very strange coincidence that this call came the very day after I spoke to a Norton representative and they both had the same Indian accent. I hope this long story will be of help in tracking this person down.- Caller: Unknown
- Anna| 1 replyI know my pc, has no virus I just cleaned it out totally.A man called from this number 288-918-6555 saying he was Microsoft , not a sales call and he saw there was a virus on my pc, (that would be impossible unless he had helped me at one time with online tech support and I agreed to let him see my screen ) so he goes on saying , now what I need you to do is to turn on your computer so I can clean it out bleh bleh bleh. I told the guy I never had a call like this and do not trust where he is going and hung up. Anyhow warn your friends could be a big scam. And yeah he was Indian as well, speaking it in the back ground too.
