picked up phone to dead air.... 2014-jan

Two calls (2014.01.13, 10:36am & 10:51am EST) with no message.  Obviously NOT important......as are most bottom-feeding, false VOIP caller ID, robo-calling scams.  Their "reward" awaits them in the never-ending fires of hell.

Calling trying to inform about energy rebates from the "State of Ontario".

Had an address on Eglinton , in Toronto.

Provided the address including the "Zipcode".

These [***] call every hour on the hour every friggen day never leave a message and rings built when I try to call back, gutter installation? I live in a rented apt! Losers!!!

Judging by the frequency they call (4 times in the last 18 hours) and the quality of their VoIP (their voice breaks up a lot, and once we were two "customers" talking at the same time), this cannot possibly be legit.

called me 3 times today, and left message "Hello, Hello...", quite annoying.

This is getting annoying. I receive multiple calls from this number everyday. When I answer the phone, it is like dead air and silence for about a minute then it disconnects. They never leave a message and when you try calling the number back, you can't get through. Who are these morons ?  Thinking about getting police involved.

I get a min of 6 calls per day every day including holidays and weekends and it's been going on for over half a year. I answer the phone to dead air they won't talk, the few times they have I have politely told them to "NEVER call here again. Guess What less then 1 hour yet another call from 1-289-800-1185. I am now convinced  that they seek pleasure in mercilessly tormenting me to no end. The national do not call list is a useless as tits on a bull  I have registered my number more than once and this number still keeps calling day after day hour after hour. We must take a stand and declare war on these annoying disrespectful telephone spammers. it's time to get the police involved and have them charged with harassment and shut down permanently.

This umber calls several times a day, it's not even noon and they've called twice already. I don't answer, they don't leave a message. I used the *67 option to block my phone number and call it back to see who these idiots are and just got a fast, rapid busy signal type sound. VERY annoying.

Call from 289-800-1185. (Their number is 888 790 0719 - call it and complain).  It's from Ontario Eco-Energy Inc. in Toronto - they sell furnaces, air-con, water heaters. They call repeatedly, most times no one answers when I pick up (their dialling machine is programmed to make too many calls at once). and they seem totally ignorant of the Do Not Call list.  They're acting illegally in calling DNC numbers. Their number is 888 790 0719.
As many people as possible call this number and complain. Complain to the CRTC if you are on the Do Not Call list.

I sent a complaint in. They have been calling my house several times a hour everyday for 2 weeks. Complaint at the do not call website. Holy. So annoying

Calls started early February. Seven calls yesterday Feb 18.  They have my address and want to send a rep. For some free. Energy assessment. I politely declined and asked to have my name removed from their list. The calls kept coming so I put them on callblock   .peace for quite while until they switched to another tel no claiming a survey on energy . Beyond harassing.. DNC list isnot effective.

While I can't stop new calls from different or spoofed numbers coming in, I use the Ooma VoIP system with a $10/mo subscription that allows me to blacklist unlimited numbers such that my phone never rings again after the first call. All spam callers are blacklisted. They also have a community blacklist so if enough subscribers blacklist a number it goes on the community blacklist and no premiere subscribers get the calls. This has reduced the frequency of spam calls enormously.

As a customer for a year, I highly recommend it. But this is not a sales pitch for Ooma and you're too smart to take advice from a stranger on the Internet so just check it out yourself at Ooma.com. Fight back.

The first call from this number today showed up on my caller ID with the  "name" listed as the phone number.   The actual phone number was listed as my own number.  Since there is no way I can call myself from my home phone, I suspected it wasn't a legitimate caller.  The next time they called, caller ID showed the name as unknown, but the number was now showing as 1-289-800-1185.

Distressing at best to think that someone can make phone calls and use MY phone number on the caller ID!

Oh, and no, they did not leave a message.

This number calls me all the time. Like, 5 times a day. I answer it, and it's either dead air, or they ask for the person they want to speak to, (me) and then when I say "speaking" they hang up! What a waste of time.

this number has been phoning constantly - 6 calls in one day, 7 calls on another day - this is harassment.  stop stop

Over 20 calls from this number in a week - pick up to hear one beep and dead air.

This number calls about 5-7 times a day and leaves no message. I finally answered and got a broken english person on the other end. Said I wasn't interested 4 times to break them from their cue card shpeel and progressively got more irate with each "NOT INTERESTED". Next step if they call again is to turn it into a sex chat..LOL
