I keep getting calls from this number telling me they're calling from the Internal Revenue Service's "Grant Department" and they want my banking information...they all speak with heavy Indian accents, so I highly doubt they're calling from "US Government" as they claim each time they call me "We are calling from US Government, ok?". Direct quote!

They called and said they were from the Government. Had a horrible accent and wanted my info. Didn't give it to em of course. Stupid fuccers

Got a call from the same  #- 301.561.2840, I did not answer it , since I did not recognize  the number.  Call was recieved 9/4/2007. 10:14am cst.

Got a call as well, 9/5/07 approx 7:55 p.m. I also chose to ignore the number as I did not recognize it. since the number showed up, shouldn't we all report the calls to police?

i missed the call but when i called back it says this is not a recognised number and cell ends call,  recieved call 9-6-07 @ 12:54 pm

Got a call as well from the same number a second ago and nobody spoke !! It was like a blank call and when I tried to call the number again the voice message said "This is not a valid number" !! I've been getting blank calls from this number quite often !! Bloddy hell !! Who the hell are theyyy ????

I got at call from this number on 9/14. The person who called said his name was Janit Smith it was obviously not him because it sounded as if this person had a real heavy Indian accent and just wanted my bank account information, thats when I hung up on him. I am wondering what scam this is all about?

301-561-2840 keeps calling late at night into the early am hours.  Answered the call last night to see who keeps calling.  Heavy accent voice with lots of background noise representing a government investigation department.  Hung up.  Who do you report this to?

I also received this call from this guy saying he is from the US government giving away grants.  Not with that heavy accent.  I work for the government military. He hung up on me as well.  When I tried to call the number back, I got a unrecognized number.  People please be careful.

Called 9/24 at 3:25pm, although they often call early in the am - I've never picked up before.  Man with heavy accent said he was calling from the US Government and that my cell phone number had been chosen to receive a grant from the government of $3500 which would never have to be repaid!  I replied, "Yeah, right.  This is a scam do not ever call this number again."  And as I hung up, he was saying, "No, not a scam!  Not a scam!"  This all started after my MySpace was hacked a month ago......

I got a call from this number last night and it was 12 am here!!!!!! i wouldnt give them my info and the lady that called me said she would call me back today and she did and i told her that i had talked to the cops this morning thye said dont give them the info and i told her im not gonna lose my money to some stupid scamand they wouldnt stop tellin me its not a scam they been callin me for the last few months!!!!

I got a call from this number on thursday night at about 9:30 pm. They said they where from the US Grant Dept. with a $1200 grant for me. The lady had a thick Indian accent, I stopped her and asked for her supervisor. I told him he was breaking the law and I would report him for calling after 9:00 pm. He quickly hung up on me!

i get this number about 5 times a day, something needs to be done just look at this board, trace it somehow

I got a call from this number and did not answer. When I called back it said this is not a valid number.

Man with heavy accent called saying that I was chosen to receive a $3500 gov't grant for free!  Called from 301.561.2840   I immediately hung up!!!  Dummies, tricks are for kids.  DO NOT FALL FOR THE SCAM

Got a call from this number last night. He said that we had been chosen to receive a $3500 grant because my student loans were current. Had all my banking information and current address. He also gave us a website of www.grants.gov. He also told us that we would receive a $100 gas voucher. I contacted a representative with grants.gov and was informed that they do not solicit by phone or ask for personal information by phone. We went ahead and closed our checking account that he had the information to and filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

Received a call from 301-561-2840 at 11:45pm, didn't answer, but when I tried to this number the next day, I received a message that this was not a working number.

Got a call for the second time from this number @8:49pm last night 10/16/07;  the first call was 2 weeks ago ater 9:30 pm.  Man with a heavy accent saying he was offering free government grant.  I asked him to never call my cell phone number again.  This time it was a woman.  I answered and pretended not to be able to hear her.  after several rounds of "hello"  she hung up.  I wish I could block this number out of my phone, but unfortunately, my phone does not have that feature.  Is it just cell phones that they are calling or land lines as well?

received call at 10.30pm est didn't answer b/c i've seen that they've called before...they had, at 2 am the prior week. The first time i figured it was an accident, now i know it isn't.
