- Call type: Fax
- GaleThey said they were calling from merchant services ro update our credit card machine? Hhhmm? Scam or what???
- Informed| 1 replyI had a call from this number, It is Wells Fargo Merchant services . they are trying to update my current computer software , that i use for merchant processing. I do not think its a scam, but it is a sales call. And just for clarification. It IS form Wells Fargo - not a third party.
- Caller: WELLS FARGO
- Debthis number has been calling me starting at 8:11am and called 4 times. the first 3 times it was like the called and hung up and called and hung up and called and hung up. it is my business line and it states that we open at 10am, but this also rings at my home. what a pain in the buttocks. this is something especially starting at 8 in the morning.
- Caller: DIDN'T SAY
- BillyThis number called me several times this morning. This is a brand new line and a new phone, completely unused. Which leads me to believe that Sprint gave out my number to this company (301) 766 5000
I too received tow messages with beeps, and a recording when I called the number. Yes it must be some kind of scam. - Mr. T| 1 replyI've just got a call from 301-766-5000 (11/10/2010 Wednesday @11:30am PST), and a man identified himself as a tech rep from merchant services with BANK OF AMERICA (while other posts said he called from Wellsfargo), and that he need to do a security update on my Credit Card Terminal. HUH. I told him that I have cancelled all my Business Merchant Account with BOFA already. and ofcourse I actually did.
SO THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM.- Call type: Telemarketer
- kThis isn't a scam, this is for First Data where many business have their credit card machines..periodically a rep will call and make sure everything is running smoothly or if you just received your machine they will call to do a download or an update.
I use to work for this company and I have had many people hang up on me thinking i was making a sales call when in reality these calls are important to you and your business. Please let us do our job their are many ways we can prove who we are if you just listen to us instead of hang up!- Caller: First Data
- kr in CAi recieved a call from this number on my cell phone at 3:59 am. i dont think a respectable company would be calling a CA number ( a cell phone number) at this time of the morning,
my cell phone listed the number out of Hagerstown MD- Caller: unknown
- BaltimoreA man who claims that he was a clerk of merchant service of Bank of America wants updating my credit card information. I told him that I will call my bank by myself. He said he can transfer me to another person for updating. I said: NO. I'll call my bank and find out whats going on. he said: ok, talk with you soon.
I called my bank and was told my credit card is fine, no need to updating.
Apparently, this was a fraudulence. - LindaHagerstown Maryland is the home of Maryland's huge prison system. Multiple huge prisons are in this town. I would never give any personal information to a stranger calling from Hagerstown.
- Caller: B of A
- ScottReceived two calls from this number today, Sept 7, 2011 BEFORE 9am. No message left. I recently changed account info at Wells Fargo, and they're one of the only groups that has my US number, as I live abroad. Very, very disappointed.
- Caller: Wells Fargo?
- Mrs. SmithJust got a call from this number about a merchant services account with Wells Fargo which I don't have & that the changes they needed to make would cost $65.00. Not even sure how they got my cell number other than I used to bank at Wachovia... Tried calling back & am told this is a credit card processor for Wells Fargo.
- Caller: Wells Fargo Merchant Services
- Got Voicemail?I have a business merchant account with B of A. They use First Data Global Gateway to process their merchant transactions (or at least some of their merchant uses). First Data Global also has the "virtual terminal" that I use instead of swiping cards.
I'm reasonably sure that, as an outside processor, they contract with several banks, credit unions, etc, for merchant processing. I've been very happy with their service, and they do occasionally call to make sure that everything is running smooth, and I'm not having any problems.
However, if you don't have a business or merchant account I see no reason why they would be contacting you.- Caller: First Data
- JAThis is First Data Merchant Services.I searched the phone# online and found this page before I spoke to them because was suspicious at first. It sounded like it could be a telemarketer, but they were calling to confirm a change had been made to our credit card processing system that we had requested just a few days prior. Telemarketers would not have known any of this information. The rep was just letting us know the change was completed and asking if we had any additional questions. She also asked if everything else was running smoothly. First Date works with many banks and institutions so they could be calling on behalf of other financial processors. It's a legit number.
- Caller: First Data
- PJFDid not answer but judging from other responses, it sounds like a scam. I am NOT a merchant, and I do not have a bank account with any of those banks. They called my cell phone.
- JoeyFirst Data Merchant services number. Not a scam
- Caller: First Data
- JoeSo, I received a call from this number from a guy claiming to be with Associated (the bank I had deposits from my merchant processing). He confirmed my Routing and Act. numbers from the old bank. I called First Data back to confirm that the call was from someone on their end: it was. The man was calling the number on file for my business (my office number) to confirm that the actual business owner made the switch and not some fraudulent attempt to change the account information. I am actually happy to have First Data take that extra step to ensure everything is copacetic, in case someone else happens to try and switch accounts without my prior knowledge.
