Report a phone call from 302-731-1166 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- James| 1 replyCalled twice today 8-6-2008, answer machine picked up and they hung up. When I checked my Mastercard account I found three charges on it from a telemarker which I had canceled.
- AnneThey called repeatedly and never left a message.
I called back and in the little message before, it siad something about insurance, then the woman asked me what my number was and I asked her "Who is this?" "Give me your number please."
I hung up.
They've called a couple times since. - Bill| 1 replyI was just trying to purchase something online in England and I am in the USA. I first put my month wrong on he expiration and then typed a security code wrong. The site then would not take my card number. At this same time my phone rang and it was this 302-731-1166 number. I missed the call and called right back. I was told they were Bank of America by the person once I asked. It was a little weird for this to not be clear to me upon calling. They said that they monitor account activity 24/7 and I asked them how long do they respond to threats. They answered that is it almost instantly. I did not give my credit card number to them when they asked as I was taken back by the unfamiliar way they handled it. Due to the timing and what I was doing and it was a Bank of America card I think they may be legit but not enough for me to give them my trust.
- Caller: Bank of America?
- nikthis phone number is you Bank of America credit card fraud alert.
they are calling about a charge to your card they they are not familar with.
i bought something from japan and they flagged it. so everything is ok now.
but i jave no idea why they can't leave a message so you know who it is.- Caller: Bank of America
- RyanI think I can confirm what Nik said in his previous comment. I was Christmas shopping today and made several purchases at the mall w/ my Bank of America card. At two different stores, the clerk had to call in to allow for the purchase to go through. Twice tonight, I received a call from that phone number (although I didn't answer it) and assumed it may have something to do w/ fraud protection. Reading the comments above it makes sense that it actually is Bank of America (or whatever vendor they may use for fraud protection if outsourced).
- Caller: Bank of America
- DeeI had the same experience that Ryan had. I called Bank of America immediately when the clerk told me the account was blocked. The Bank of America rep told me that they were taking precautions because of all the new purchases that I had on my card today. They wanted to make sure that no one had stolen my card and gone on a shopping spree. Several phone calls were made to my home from the number in question. They asked for my social security number, but I would not give it to them since it was an unsolicited call. Because of the conversation I had with the rep earlier in the day, I believe that it is actually Bank of America calling, but I still wouldn't give out sensitive information over the phone unless I made the call to Bank of America myself.
- Caller: Bank of America
- caroleI got the call a few times from that number today but I missed all of them. When I called back, I was told to provide my credit card number (without telling me which credit card), and I was also told that my Bank of Amerian credit card got something alert sounded like a big fause trasanction (they didn't explain why). They asked me again for my card number and I didn't feel alright, so I hung up the phone.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Gary| 2 repliesRec'd call almost INSTANTLY after making a payment via PayPal. It is Bank of America. They called to verify the transaction. I had also just used the card a few minutes earlier to pay my Tmobile bill on their website.
- Caller: Bank of America
- RickI verified this number with BofA's fraud department -- after some people at BoA told me it might be a scam. After getting the call from the 302 number, I called 800-432-1000, which I got from https://www.bankofamerica.com/privacy/Control ... horised_acc_use. Two representatives told me they didn't think it was a legit number, but couldn't be certain. I was finally transferred over to the fraud dept. and someone said that it indeed was them, and we went over the suspicious charges (which was me, but just out of the ordinary purchases).
I'm actually pretty happy with BoA about this. If only they could have their departments communicate with each other better. We basically thought it was a fraudulent call right up until the last guy we talked to. - DavidThis number called me twice over the past two days. 8:14pm and 8:19am. Each time I answered and the other line quickly hung up. I called back and was put on hold. I did not speak with any individual at this number. From my searching this call means someone has obtained your Bank of America Credit Card Info and has attempted to commit fraud with your account. DO NOT GIVE ANY ONE AT THIS NUMBER INFORMATION!!! I called Bank of America's Card Service number on the back of the card and they assisted me and told me to disregard this number as it is probably another attempt of fraud.
- Yes it is BOA fraud alertI have a card and BOA left me a machine message. I called BOA with the number on my bill and got a human. I had a fraud on my card, they picked it up
- Caller: just a person
- Mike| 1 replyIt was Bank of Amercica. I had a credit card that wasn't used in over a year. Someone got a hold of it and tried to use it. The transaction was denied. They didn't ask me for any personal info, only my phone #, then verified my info from there. Very helpful, thank you Bank of America.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Ramon A. RomeroI just received two phone calls from this number and they told me that they were from FIA. A credict card provider for the bank institucions and the person that i spoke with said that perhaps the calls that i recieved were regarding fraud and to call my bank immediatelly.
- BillNewark, Deleware area. Unpublished number. Caller ID said "Card Services."
They called twice one day, a few hours between calls. They haven't called back since. I wasn't home to receive the calls but caller ID tagged it.
If called and speaking to them, I wouldn't give them any personal information either unless I called them back at an 800 number on my card and then was transferred to the fraud dept. Remember it's possible to forge caller ID and therefore it's not to be trusted as totally reliable. If you get one of these calls, at the least check your credit card statements for signs of fraud. - It is a BOA fraud alert numberI just called BOA and they confirmed me the number.
A piece of advice to everyone. Never provide credit card and SSN information to an unknown caller. Hang up and call the bank at the official phone number (posted on the back of the card) and ask for the fraud department.
Good luck! - AshleyI received two calls this afternoon. No one left a message and when I called back I was put on hold. I recently paid for something via PayPal which I have not done in over 2 years, so maybe that is what they wanted to discuss. It's weird, though, because I only use this one credit card and check my statements every month. If there was a problem, I would have called them. Maybe it's about another credit card I keep just for emergencies???
- KristaThis number keeps calling my Cell Phone at all times of the day!! I haven't picked up yet for I didn't know who it was. I don't use any credit card(s) whatsoever so I dont know why Bank of America would be calling me.
- TonyI received the call telling me a fraudulent charge had been placed on my credit card and if I was the primary card holder to press one. Not recognizing the number or knowing anybody in Delaware I promptly hung up. I called the number on my credit card and they confirmed the call made to me. They transferred me to the fraud division who told me of the charges they were suspicious of and told me they would freeze the account until I could verify the charges. Thank you Bank of America for watching over me.
- Caller: we represent several banks
- EP| 1 replyReceived a call from this number when I answered it one for yes two for know if your name is then said my name. I pressed one then it hung up.
I have read the comments on this page I believe this is not Bank of America.
As this happened I was checking my card I noticed one charge for a dollar and one charge for nearly $500 in a state very far away!
I canceled the card called the store, the police, and filed a charge.
Do not answer this number. If it appears check your credit cards bank cards etc.
Then call your card companies if you notice anythings a miss. - BKI got 2 calls from this number when i was away from my phone. I called it back and got some guy, i asked who they were and he said "Card Services" and then asked for my card number. I politely refused and hung up.
Even if this is BankOfAmerica it seems pretty shady. I did charge about $300 the night before so it may be legit, but who asks for a card number for identification? I wouldnt give these guys any info
