I just received a call from this number and the guy that I was talking to said that my computer would NOT work in the next half hour if I didn't give him access to it through TeamViewer so he could show me where a virus was.

He claimed to be a Microsoft Engineer so I asked for his name, employee number, phone number and extension and he said he would give it to me AFTER he fixed the computer.

I have 5 computers running in my home and they aren't all hooked to the same modem. How could he know which computer was the one that was affected by this so-called "virus".?

Be afraid.... Be VERY afraid of calls like this. There's no way to verify who this person is. I asked him if I could call him back but he wouldn't offer the information I requested.

This is a scam in my opinion. They just want access to your computer so they can pull ALL of your personal information and chances are, create a duplicate identity of you somewhere else.

Giving someone remote access to your computer has to be one of the biggest mistakes you can make unless you know exactly who's viewing it.

He said I could verify his company by going to callmicrotechnician.com which really doesn't tell me anything. There was no employee list and if you do a whois lookup you'll find this information:

    Expiration Date: 2012-06-27
    Creation Date: 2011-06-27    <--------
    Last Update Date: 2011-08-01

    CALLMICROTECHNICIAN.COM SITE INFORMATION
    IP: 213.5.177.196
    IP Location: Athens, Greece
    Website Status: active
    Server Type: LiteSpeed
    Alexa Trend/Rank: Up Arrow 1 Month: 5,741,115    3 Month: 11,867,761
Page Views per Visit: 1 Month: 2.0    3 Month: 2.0

This is awfully strange considering he said he was calling from Texas and the Contact Us page says they're located in Beverly Hills California and the above information shows that this is located in Greece.

    Nothing adds up.

Anyways.... be very careful about who you give access to your computer, especially remotely.

The phone rang but before I could reach it it went to the answering machine.  The # that called was 303-422-9290.

I listened to the message and all I heard was some men talking in the back ground in a  language I could not make out.  They hung up without saying a word.

The call trace says it's a pay phone in Colorado from ...Conoco Gas Station............3005 Arapahoe Ave...outside.  I find calls are coming from all over the Country and the world for that matter.

I figure they are the same people with an elaborate phone # switching scam they've devised using the computer to make the call.

The RCMP cant do a thing unless there's a crime and it's perpetrated in Canada.  I can only say the best thing to do is answer and give them bogus information dragging it out for as long as you can wasting as much of their time they'll never call back.

I've personally done this last year at my old # and it really upset the guy when he was not getting into my computer.  He started getting really angry and eventually loosing it screaming profanity's at me.
Anyway it was me wasting their time for a change.  I hope they all get what they deserve.

Received a similar call a few days ago. Wrote the number down (Different number this time). Sophisticated Call Center(Centre)re from India trying to SCAM you for your Info. THis time the caller saw the number dialed, and possibly since it was flagged as windows 3.1 user, Calling party thought they would just hang up. WillPost moreinfo ON THIS Number later, also, a call search shows this number is maintained by QUest Telecom from Colorado. Pity the soul who gets this number if it gets assigned to a phone some place. THis is why I can safely assume that the number is being SPOOFED. Be Vigilant. ONLY Offer information if it is a legitimate caller.

DO NOT TRUST THOSE GUYS AT ALL !

Be careful that phone call from a fake technician who will tell you he is calling from team viewer or microsoft that wanted to fix your computer by giving him access to your computer via VPN Virtual Peer Network, they will tell you that you got a virus and they want to fix it for you. all they want is to stole all the indentity in your computer to make fraudulent thing after it. BE AWARE !!

Never lets anybody entering your computer except if you call a real technician from your network company.

if you got virus for real and cannot erase it you better save your personnal data by yourself on USB memory stick or cd, dvd then format your computer then reinstall windows !!

Oh I wish I had answered the phone now.  I am an IT person and would have turned the tables on them.  They won't answer when I call back.  I could easily have traced him and found him and let him know I had found him without saying a word  :)

I will answer next time you can bet on it.

Received call from foreign speaking male who said he was calling from a gas station pay phone and that my computer was causing interference.  He asked he I was near my computer at the time and I told him I was on do not call list and not to bother me.  Obviously a scam of some kind.

I just had a call from this number today, it was a lady saying that I had won a iPhone 5 in a comp. I entered. I very rarely enter any so I asked how and when did I enter it, and she said it was via a email and she read out my email address, to which I said I haven't entered any competition so don't bother calling me again. I don't know how they get hold of information like that.

I received a phone call from the same number and it said it was from a pay phone.  Not knowing where that area code was I answered the call but no one answered me.   I may just keep an air horn handy and let them have it and maybe all the other telemarketers too!  :)

I answer the phone and could not understand what the guy was trying to get across by saying that my computer don't work and that I have to give him personal information.  I kept replying that I don't understand his accent.  He could not introduced himself so I hang up the phone because it was a scam.
