left a message threatening high legal expenses along with other dire consequences if we further ignored their calls.  Since they did not mention either me or my husband by name, and since we owe absolutely nobody or for anything, I felt safe in returning the call.  When answered by a male with a heavy foreign accent, in an extremely noisy environment, I asked why they keep calling "this number".  The response was something to the effect of "because you have a lot of money" or "owe a lot of money"... then the call was disconnected by the recipient!  Suffice it to say, SCAM.

I got a call on Saturday Sept. 3.  (first red flag, IRS is NOT open on a Saturday)  They claimed to have made numerous phone calls to my phone and stated that the person who answers the phone picks up and then hangs up.  I don't have a landline.    Threatening me with legal consequences and that I owed lots of money due to the fact that my taxes that were done in the last 5 years were done incorrectly.  They also stated that my house, my car, and everything that I own will be seized and that I will be going to prison.  Not sure what is going on, but I will be calling my local law enforcement office to see what is going on.

Same as Janet. I called them back, they said it was the IRS and when I asked why they called me, the call got disconnectes

Similar message to other posted complaints. First portion of message was distorted but, what was discernable stated I must return the call to some women's office and not to ignore her authority or there would be legal action taken against me. Definitely is a scam.

I have a block on my phone for calls just like this but every so often I get a message. They're entertaining at best! This one was a "woman" (cheap computer voice-over) the message was distorted but the last part was clear- please do not disregard this message and call us back at.. then gave the last 4 digits of the number ONLY! hahaha Then said dont make us take legal action against you.

Said they were IRS and wanted me or my attorney to call  or there would be legal action taken against me.

Said I was in violation of codes and fraud and if I did not put my lawyer on phone they would send people to arrest my husband and I within the hour.  I asked why I had not been contacted in writing they said they had made several attempts to send a package and we were refusing it.  Almost within an hour we received an another call from the same number  a prerecorded message that we were to contact a certain number, the message was fast and clipped so I could not write the number down.  They called on a Saturday first call at 9:30 and second about 11.

Said they were from the IRS and that either me or my attorney should return the call ASAP as I was in violation of some code, could not get the number but  please do not disregard this message and call us back at.. then gave the last 4 digits of the number ONLY! hahaha Then said dont make us take legal action against you. never called me by name

so I got two of their robo calls today and I decided to call back. they said they were from the IRS and that I had several serious charges against me for long story short "trying to take the money and run". Not sure where I ran but I know from talking to the IRS that they usually don't give first names. when I asked him if they verified my address or SSN he said "I know it's you", and when I said that I know people that work for the IRS and they usually verify these things. For some reason he hung up when I said that. I'll probably call back again because it's really entertaining.
