Yes they did the same to me when They finally came on the line they want to lower your credit card amounts. When you press 1 they tell you to hang up next time they call or press 2 wich does nothing at all.
According to Google, the number belongs to this company:
Val Paraiso United Services 40 Northeast 54th Street Miami, FL 33137 MORE Phone: 305-758-9297 SIC: 6099 Sales: $2.5-5 Million Employees: 5 - 9 Industry: Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate Depository Institutions Functions related to deposit banking
This is a spoofed caller ID. I got a recorded call from "Rachel, with cardholder services" claiming that they could lower my credit rate on my Visa or Mastercard. Thing is, they didn't know what card I currently have... When I spoke to a real person and asked them to put me on their do not call list, they hung up immediately.
I strongly recommend not telling these people anything about yourself, as they are fraudulent and probably scammers.
I pressed 1, and a person answered..."Card Services". I asked what credit card company it was and they hung up on me. When you dial the number back, it comes up as no longer in service....
Despite being on the Do Not Call list I got so fed up with all these unwanted calls (including from 305-758-9297) I found this neat little unit that can be programmed to either block or send unwanted calls to your answering machine without your phone ever ringing! You can add as many numbers as you want and even program it to have ALL 800, 888, 877, & 866 numbers dumped straight into the answering machine. I’ve had it about three weeks and love it. Found it at BlockTelemarketers.net
I got called by this number at 8am. When you answere this number your line is switched to an overseas line for use. Do not answere calls with a + sign in front of the phone number unless you know the number or have someone overseas or out of the USA. These people have no ethics and do not care about harassing you. Do not push 1 to talk to someone this only validates your number and you could be electroniclly agreeing to something. They do not care about the do not call list so do not push 2 to be removed. These call centers gather information 1 piece at a time to make a file on you. Next move is to start calling cell phones this will make a lot of money for the scammers.
10:27 Am today to my cell - got this call last week about the same time as well...."Your Car Warranty Expired".....no crap, my cars are 10 years old, bozo. Maybe I should buy the magical warranty and it'll turn my old cars into new ones......
I've received calls from this outfit Card Member Services for the past 8 months, they use other phone numbers too. They use phone numbers that have been disconnected, and you can't call them back. They want to steal your credit card numbers and identity. If you question their motives they become irate and verbally abusive. The phone attendants are all in on the scam, they are all criminals. The Florida State Attorney General's Office is not interested in solving this type of crime (not enough glory and media attention).
The only alternative is the National DNC list, and that's not much of a consolation.
called my home phone. I answered and heard a static sound for a few seconds as I said "Hello" a couple of times. Then they hung up on me. I called it back and a recorded message said: "We're sorry, but the number you have reached is disconnected or is no longer in service."
These rotten bastards called my cell. I hit "1" to speak to someone and immediately said "I'm on the Do Not Call list.." That's as far as I got because the spineless little cowards immediately hung up.
Just received a call from 305-758-9297 Miami, FL (automated message) offering to lower my interest rate on all of my Visa/Mastercard accounts. It said press 1 to speak to a customer representitive. When the woman got on the phone she said that she would contact my Visa/Mastercard account holders to lower my interest rate. I asked her if I needed to give her my credit card numbers and she said yes with an approximate balance for each. When I told her that I was not giving any account information out, she hung up.
I was in the middle of fiddling with my new cell phone and thought I had dialed some 305 number by mistake or off of my calls list and i hung up immediatley so nobody would answer... then I realized that I don't know anyone at a 305 number and redialed. I got the "disconnected" message and then a voicemail popped up. There was no company name identified- it cam one as if my message had cut off the name and that they were already in progress of a schpiel. I am glad that I didn't answer. From what I've read, these people are very underhanded.
