    A Scam
This call originated from 305-777-0050 and "Social Svc Coor" came up on the caller id. This person spent a half hour on the phone and said that they were contracted with Anthem and they would help me receive money back depending on my income and that i would receive a package in a blue envelope restating the conversation and asked for photocopies of lots of vital information. The contact info that was given was the females name "Digna" and phone number 866-705-8732 Extension 4292. A Google seach turned up that number for

    Vista Travel
    3672 Main St
    Onaway, MI 49765
    Phone : (866) 705-8732

I would report this to someone but don't know where i would. So this is the best i can think of.

These people are calling my elderly parents, asking for personal information to "verify" whether they  are eligible for federal aid to assist in Medicare costs.  They claim to be contracted with my dad's insurance company.  My dad asked for written information on the company.  He received the application, but does not qualify for any assitance based on his income.  He has told them that, but the company still wants him to complete the application and return it with all of his personal information so they can "verify" he doesn't qualify.  They have refused his requests to stop calling them.  I checked this firm's website, but there is no address listed, the link for the financial eligible for assstance does not work, and there is only a toll free number to call.  It does not come up as a link on my dad's insurance company, either.  Scam.

This person claimed to be representing Blue Cross/Blue Shield.  They left a number for me to return the call. Of course, I didn't.
If Blue Cross needed to contact me, they would send a letter.  THIS IS A SCAM.  BEWARE!

    Oh, my goodness!
The caller sounded legitimate - I stopped when it really became intrusive asking
for specific amounts of monies I have in my checking and savings accounts ...
I should have known that United Health Care would not be calling me from a Florida
area code ... Any suggestions for who to contact about this? And, What's the scam ???

    SCAM!
Why would your insurance company need a copy of your bank statements, social security card, medicare card and a copy of your drivers license or passport?  If you have a medicare advantage plan, they already have your social security number, etc.  This definitely does not sound right, but I will call SCAN and verify.

I received a call tonight from 305-777-0050. It showed up on the caller ID as SOCIAL SERVICES. I did not answer the phone because I didn't recognize the number. There was no message left on voice mail. I did a reverse look-up and found the number as others have posted, being from Miami, FL. The only SOCIAL SERVICES that would be calling us would, of course, be from Pennsylvania. But we have no need or want for them to call.

FL based"contractor" who, according to my medicare Advantage carrier,is a business, which provides free  requested analysis and option research regarding possible assistance with meeting your current medicare/obumblercare expenses based on your assets. As they contract with MANY different Insurers,I would suspect variations in CallerID info and PhoneNo are due to whatever provider telephone bank the draw a line on(inhouse)when making outgoing calls, My paid Ins Provider is who made my intial contact with this outfit so, ?
It does NOT appear they are"selling" anything or wanting $$.....just data mineing to see if theres cost options available to you,     Therefore"May" well be legit.

THIS IS LEGIT!  There is a program called Medicare Savings Program which, if you qualify, pays your $105.00 monthly Medicare premium. I have dealt with this company before. I am retired. I have Medicare and another health insurance for my "Part D" coverage.  $105.00 is deducted automatically from my Social Security check each month for Medicare plus I have the Part D insurance premium also deducted.

My "Part D" private insurance company contracts with the company that is calling and is the subject of this thread. They ask for my income (I'm widowed so I don't know if they would want total household income or just the person who gets SS and pays the Medicare premium) and assets IN GENERAL - do you own/rent, have IRA's and what not.

If you pre-qualify because of your income and the other factors that you can only usually estimate at that time, they do tell you they will send a colored envelope (mine is pink) with info you need to gather because someone will be contacting you again by phone.

That next phone call goes over the info you gathered and if you still pre-qualify (with having the detailed info you collected), they will apply on your behalf to your state who uses the info you supplied to determine if you QUALIFY to be exempt from personally paying the $105 SSA premium.

If you DO qualify you will no longer have the $105 taken out and thus RECEIVE that $105 in your check!!!!!!!!!!

My private insurance company in PA is Geisinger. The company that calls me is "My Advocate a service offered by Altegra Health Operating Company which is an independent company".  I have dealt with this company for a few years and never had a problem with them. Everything is confidential and I HAVE QUALIFIED TO BE EXEMPT FROM PERSONALLY PAYING THE MEDICARE PREMIUM for all those years.

YOU DO NOT PAY ANYTHING to this company or anyone for this service. I wholeheartedly recommend answering the phone and the preliminary questions. The worst that will happen is they say you don't meet the prequalification. The best thing that could happen is that you make it to the next steps and you receive the Medicare premium currently $105 a month IN YOUR CHECK instead of in the government coffers.

The "call type" choices did not offer one that I felt matched this call so I chose "unknown".

I'm low income and have Anthem has my supplemental insurance.  Anthem wanted to see if there were programs that could help me save money and so they did a call a few days ago.  A woman who called from this number today gave me another number to call, but it doesn't exist.  She says she's from Anthem.
