Caller ID name unknown

Caller ID comes through as Casper, WY.

Asked for the owner of the number - previous owner.

Wanted to send out a solicitation packet for a charity that provides a child a wish. Did not say Make a Wish Foundation, but made it sound as if it were.

I suspect this is a debt collection agency attempting to find out the name and address of the new number. If not, this is more than likely a scam.

i got the same thing i asked they told me it was the childrens wish network , they said it was like make a wish and wanted permision to send me a packet for 12.50 to process i declined my son  was a make a wish child and they send stuff free it sounded fraudulent plus they said they were  from flordia and caller id said WY

children's wish foundation is basically a scam, acting like they are the make a wish foundation.  but they take about 99% of your donations and give next to nothing to any charity. see this website, for example: http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=3490

Got a call today from someone soliciting for some kind of breast cancer research assn in Florida.  When I questioned why the caller ID stated Wyoming, the caller said they were routing calls from their main line (?)  I said I never donate to phone solicitors and hung up.

They called, I ignored it.  Thanks for the info!

When will regulators require basic phone service include caller I.D.?

They have been calling for weeks. At first, when we would answer, there was no one on the line. Then we simply started letting it ring out (but they let it ring forever) and now we've started picking it up and just hanging up immediately.

I missed another call from them today, and I called them back. The woman that answered said "Organizational Development, mine name is ___, how can I help you?"

After doing some research on Organizational Development Inc, I found that they are a for profit business, but they call around to solicit funds for charities. The only problem is, if you get on the phone with them they don't actually use the proper names of the charities they are supposedly raising money for.

They say "Kid's Miracle (or in some cases, Wish) Foundation" Instead of Children's Miracle Network. Or "American Breast Cancer Society" instead of just American Cancer Society or The Breast Cancer  Society (which, incidentally, I've heard negative things about).

It sounds like a scam to me. I wouldn't give my money and I'm currently in the process of getting on their no call list. We'll see if it works.
