Obviously it's a new scam. Here's what someone wrote on another website last week:  ". . .  he was trying to get me to tell him things about my computer and try different things while he was on the phone. He would not tell me how he get my number or where he was calling from. Talked about Microsoft updates. "

yes. I just got the same call. They wanted me to turn my computer control over to them to supposedly fix some issues.
My computer is working fine and I have a good virus scan on it. I think it is also a scam. How do I block them?

They wanted me to turn my computer control over to them to supposedly fix some issues. They stated they were with E Support Live. I called E Support Live and they said were not making calls so I don't know for sure.

Had this number call my work asking if i was the owner of the computer, i asked who was calling and said some name, then he kept asking if i was the main owner of the computer, i then asked what company they are working for and they hung up. Scam!

Today I received another call from this number.  His phone connection isn't good - so when I ask what company he works for I can't make it out. Wants me to go into msconfig to look at running services and supposedly wants me to turn on remote access.  I didn't let him get that far - asked him if he was paid by the hour, what company he works for, where he is located.  Also told him I was recording the phone call.  After 15 minutes I got bored and hung up and this idiot called me back wanting to know why I hung up.  I told him I was out of time - he said my computer would stop working if I didn't get his help.  So I told him that's fine, I have a Linux box I can use, bye bye.  Creepy though.  He also knew my PO Box number, which wasn't fun to hear.

I just got a call from this same number and read him the riot act. He told me that if I do not do what he tells me to do that my license key would be cancelled!! I told him I don't think so and if they do I would contact my lawyer. He provided my phone number and address to try and verify his company however I advised he could get that info anywhere. I told him to mail me a letter regarding this issue and he said he was not auth to do so. We went back and forth like this for a while and I told him he was full of shi**. He put me on hold to "transfer me to a manager" but then said he was unable to do so at this time and would like to call me back in 30 mins. HAHAHA Good Luck. What a scam, I was born but not yesterday.

Just got a call from this number and he said he wanted to talk to me about my computer. I said I was not talking to anyone about my computer nd hung up on him. Foreign accent too!

Calls but always hangs up after our greeting.  This is a company line.

They called me today and said that since I was a microsoft user they had my info, and that tomorrow if I turn my computer on it may be black. I asked what company he was with and he just kept saying "technical support" - I told him my personal computer was very old, I rarely use it and don't need tech support... he hung up

I got a very similar call as above.  They got suspicious and hung up when I started fishing for information.

Just got the same call and believed he said Go For Rescue but had to understand (Indian accent). Had my name and I strung him along for a few mins. Obviously a scam. He gave me a call back number of 888-514-1650. Called the number, lots of backround noise and unable to hear anyone on the phone.

Same as previous posts, they're still at it. Woman with strong Indian accent, hard to understand.

Called my parents, I answered. They were asking about a computer supposedly owned by [insert my dads name] and I informed he that no he doesn't have one. Then they guessed my age and also had my name some how. Kinda creeped me out but my name and age is in public records so don't get to freaked out if they know these things about you too!
Hang up and never give info to ANYONE You don't personally know and have a history of good business with. :)

Got a call from them today. Comes up as Varna, IL and then the number 309-474-0863.  I don't answer numbers that are not already programed into my phone.  Everyone who answered and posted on here says they are calling about a computer virus.  My computer has actually started acting up the past few days and now I am going to have to wipe it out and start over because I can't go a lot of things.  I am guessing these people are phishing through other websites that we all must frequent and have possibly gotten into our computers through that (facebook, twitter, any social site or even a website).  I refuse to answer calls that I do not know.  Wish I could block their number but the company we go through for our phone only allows 12 numbers to be blocked and I already have the list full...I really hate these people.  Funny thing is my phone number is unlisted/private so how they got my number I don't know.  I have heard that some companies that you deal with will actually sell your number to these kinds of people and that is how they get your number.  I am registered with the national do not call registry but that is a bunch of bull too.  I update it through out the year and I still get soliciting calls.  There has got to be a way to stop these people.  If it was my cell phone I could easily block them but it is my home phone that they are calling and I can't block them.  Maybe next time they call I will say "no habla english" , speak jibberish, or maybe act like a child and start asking them stupid questions.  maybe that will stop them from calling...lol

scam. This number called my mother and took advantage of her lack of knowledge and computer skills. The gentleman was able to remotely connect and maliciously planted files. Do not answer or talk to this person.

Received a call from this number, I did not answer and they left no message.

Someone called my husband and said something is trying to download from my computer.  He needed to be at computer for them to fix it.

Got a call from 309-474-0863 where a guy with an Indian accent said he's with the company "Go4Marketplace," a service provider for Windows, and wanted to walk me through the steps to see if my computer was infected with a worm. He started with "Windows key + R" then realized I wasn't actually doing it and said it (magically) wouldn't work if I just wrote it down for later. Though they're calling for free, and if they find a "worm" he said they'll fix it for free (uh-huh), he insisted it was a legit company that I should Google, and that he'd gotten my name, address, and phone number from a list of registered Windows users. Yes, quite the scam. Do NOT follow their instructions!!!
