Today I received 8 calls in a row from this number.
I never answered it but it was very weird.

Just got same call. Does this charge your phone bill?

I got the same call, with a verification number.  I googled the number and then tried calling it back.  i got a recording.  I came across this site and saw what people were writing.  I checked my credit card and someone had just purchased two apple computers with my credit card.  A credit Card processing center had a security breach and several thousand credit card numbers were stolen.  I guess mine was one.

watch out for yahoo ID "mesweetgrl1986" whoever it is a scam artist. I gave my cell number, i get call in 30seconds ( from 310-928-7055). i got vari. code ***** and shared with this person "mesweetgrl1986" and then person disappear like mission finished. Anywayu, i'm just little worried whats next? Am i in deep Sh*t?

I received six calls on our answering machine from 3109287055, all containing a five number activation cope, all different, within a 27 minute time span.

I think Google also uses this service to verify phone numbers for business listings on local business. So that's another possibility. I guess the service they use has this number.

its a google verification code for a business you or someone using your phone number setup in yours or theirs google account. If you do not use the code your information cannot be used. Check your google account to make sure some one is not using your Gmail address or phone number to set up a business.

I got a call around 2.30 PM today. The caller identified him as David Kingston from FCC and informed me that they will send a 5 digit code for stopping marketing calls.  In the next minute, I received a call from the number 310-928-7055 (an automated message) that gave a code (Some where in the message, I heard Craigs List).  After a minute, the same caller called me to confirm the code (identified himself as David Kingston of FCC again). When I asked him about the relationship between FCC and Craigs List, he started threatening me that he can levy a penalty as I am rejecting a call from FCC.  I asked him to stop calling me and hung up.  He called me again and asked the reason for disconnecting my call. I was really annoyed and asked him to stop calling me.

i have  contacted a girl , the yahoo ID me2farah@yahoo.com , she asked for my phone no and after giving the phone no i got a ring from a no and got a code from some CREIGLIST, she wanted the code and i gave her , just getting the code she signed out ,
can anyone tell what she can do with the phone no and code ?
if they place a add using my phone no how can i retrive the add which is placed using my account

This is an automated callback verification system, someone in your house ordered something and they use this to verify your home phone, they leave a code you input on the website where you made your purchase to confirm you are the person that made the order..Hope this makes sense, I've had to use this system to verify my home phone.

well wat if you didnt purchase anything? I dont get it I would also like to know what can happen to you if they have your number and that code? I didnt purchase anything and I fell for it like an idiot...I dont know what I should do...does anyone know?

This number is used for Craig's List verification. I am looking for someone to sew some handbags for me. Advertising in the crafts area needs an access code verify. It is legit IF you use Craig's List.

Someone called my home when I was not at home and told my daughter (who is just 15 yrs old) that they are calling from some tele marketing site etc.. and told they will be leaving a 4 digit code and they need the code. Few minutes later she  got a call from this number 13109287055 which left some 4 digit code. The message clearly said not to give the code to any one.  Later the original caller called and got the code from my unsuspecting daughter. I really don't know what is the implication. I called the above number and it just tells it is telephone verification system. I am really worried. Any idea what kind of scam is this? I called Craiglist. They said they don't leave any verification code on the phone. They only send it by email.

This goes to ( dfgg ), thanks for the link. I did follow up on the call from 310-928-7055 that called me on Aug 16, 2009 approx 19.00 that's 7:00pm for regular folks. I talked to a highly regarded individal about this matter after some investigation work of my own. (Work as a Security Officer) I found this really strange so I HAD to find out if this was legitimate. YES YES YES this is a security feature from companies that offer security PROTECTION when you shop online. You would provide them with your contact number WHEN you are making a purchase. IF YOU ARE NOT/NOR DID NOT make a purchase at the time of the call then DO NO ENTER THE 4 or so digit number or call the number back to leave any info. Sometimes people try to SCAM and see if people will just give out the info required. Yes this is a SECURITY FEATURE for online shopping. Take a deep breath.

This was the number that called to verify changes to Google ads... my partner had tried to make ad changes but forgot to warn me about the validation phone call until AFTER. LOL. Obviously, I know now that it's a validation service that several companies use, but it freaked me out when I got the call without a heads-up. Nevertheless, if you're receiving the calls w/o participating in any of the online services that use it, there's a problem... either a typo or a con.

This number called me at 4 AM! It is some type of "verification" site. It is just another scam of some kind. Do not give any info...hang up!

It's google's way to active your local business results listing for your business

The caller is Craigslist and is legitimate.

Craigslist is now requiring a poster in some or all categories to maintain an active account. Once the account is established the poster gives a phone number to either be called by an automated service or receive a text message with the verification code to type in online to confirm your account.

If you receive this call and are not attempting to register an account with Craigslist, someone is intentionally entering an wrong number (yours) to avoid being identified.  The only problem besides your inconvenience, they will not receive the code the establish their account.

its google
