caller ID 313-203-8198 - Female caller wanting
Wanting money for cancer .. Not with American Cancer
or MD Anderson.. Something else.. Didn't want to
accept my reply of not donating.. Tried to pressure
me to give anything - $10 - $15... I tried to keep
it nice - but she kept trying the pressure
tactic... Which is not a good idea - Talked me out
of donating one red cent... I don't make telephone
donations anyway... Pity these people can't be stopped.
Not sure they are even legit..

A female called asked if it was my residence then hung up on me, I called the number back on caller ID and it said it was not assigned.  Way too strange I think, have visited other websites and some have talked with her and she wants money for cancer.

This is a despicable outfit. A lady calling from this number first rang my house earlier this week. She said she was calling for "The Cancer Fund of America" which supposedly does "hospice care." She sounded legit but I have to believe this outfit is a sleazy one. Here's why...

I explained to her that my wife has cancer and financially and that we weren't in any a position to give right now. She then hung up. Then today, the phone woke my wife (who's exhausted and in pain from her meds) a 7:52 a.m. with another call. I was half asleep, too, but I recognized the number on our bedside phone and we let it ring. The hope was we could both try to grab a few more winks before our three young children woke us.

An hour later they rang again. We didn’t answer. And then they rang again 30 minutes later. (Even though we’re on the "do not call" list.) When I finally picked up. A woman who sounded exactly like the one I spoke to a few days ago then went through the same script. I explained again (this time in more detail) that my wife had Stage IV Cancer, that our medical bills were astronomical, and that we weren't in a position to give. Just in case she wasn't the same person, I stressed, "Look, you people called me earlier in the week, I explained all this then, please take us off your call list."

Rather than grasp that Stage IV Cancer is the "incurable kind" where you eventually need hospice care, she went right back at me saying, "If you can donate $25, I can take you off the call list." Essentially, the telemarketer was trying to extort a donation in exchange for not harassing anymore. Incredible.

My wife and I have given generously to American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen. We give to legitimate charities as much as we are legitimately able to give (i.e., we don't donate money when we have thousands of dollars more in bills than insurance will cover). Either this
charity is a monumental mound of B.S. (that’s my bet) or they are clueless to the fact that there callers are harassing the very people they came to be calling to help out.

If they ever call you again, feel free to share my story. I told them to take me off the list, but I’m sure they will call again. And I’m even more sure they would have kept calling even (especially) if I’d given in to the extortion.

same thing with me.  constantly calling to solicit money for charity donations.

I am on the Do Not Call list too, but they call sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. We just let it ring and don't answer it anymore. It's just harassment from a tele-marketer, wish I knew how to stop it.

some call lists are done automatically and are lengthy so they dont have time to take you off a long list even if it exists..other lists are just done manually one phone number after another. 1 2 3 4 5 etc.

just put a whistle near the phone and when she calls again pick up and blow blow blow blow then hang up maybe an earache will help her understand you

the first phone call i got from this number was of a lady that laughed loudly and then hung up. I called the number back, and it converted over to a 405 area code number. This is from an individual that is trying to get donation for cancer. . It is not related to any non profit organization for cancer research.

I just reported the number to the do not call list and informed the American Cancer Society of this practice and gave them the number to follow up.

This number 313-203-8198 called my parents at home, the call ID showed up as ACS and a woman asked my mom if she would like to make a donation to the American Cancer Society my mom called the number back and it says the number is not assigned. She then called THE American Cancer Society and was told they do not solicit donations over the phone and to be careful because it was a scam.

The ACS is a scam using the real American Cancer Society’s name to make themselves money.
It is bad enough they want to scam people but to use a place like the American Cancer Society’s name for their greed that’s pretty low Huh?

I've received more than 40 calls from several phone numbers--all of which check out to the "Childrens Cancer Recovery Foundation."  The latest one came from 313-203-8198 with "ACS" showing up on the caller ID. Many others have also come from 877-208-5257, or 877-208-5259, with "toll-free call" on the caller ID, and 818-725-2292 with "California call" on the caller.  This foundation consists of an umbrella  group of so-called charities, all founded by "Greg," who has made many millions of dollars on this scam.  They are on record with several reporting groups (including BBB) for giving around 10% of what they collect in donations, and probably use phone solicitors who are either unaware of the scam or don't care because they are being paid a commission on what they can get.  

When I finally answered the phone this morning to the latest call, the caller seemed to know my name and told me she was working for "children's cancer recovery."  I didn't wait to hear her script, but told her I was not interested in making a contribution before immediately hanging up.  I doubt this will stop the calls.  I would not be surprised if someone from from their organization is probably monitoring these report messages on a regular basis.  I just wish there was some way to stop this kind of fraud.  In the meanwhile, I am trying to let everyone I know be aware of their existence.

hangs up everytime whether I answer the phone or it goes to VM.  Why can't local phone companies stop this?

I received this call as well. This is nothing short of illegal harassment.

I got a call from this number but did'nt answer, decided to check the number here first. I usually do this first instead of answering if I don't recognize the number, that way I will know if to ignore the call in the future.

This call was made from and unregistered cell phone. I have read the other messages on this site and see that they are supposed to be from the American Cancer Society. Seems very suspicious. I contacted the ACS and gave them the number in case it is a scam.

What a bunch of scammers out of Dearborn Mich!!!!!!!!!!!  Got called  this am and gave me  the old BS God Bless etc etc  Help the poor children in the cancer wards.................

That was not nice of you to play around with those folks   I know they are black and scammers out of Dearborn MI but they got to make a living too!!!!!!!!!!
