This number called me, saying I have one a grant. Then suddenly it ends and I call back and the number doesn't exist.

I read about this scam on the internet, got a great idea from someone else they tried to scam.  Stay on the line and stall for time so they rack up long distance charges on their end.  Eventually, they will hang up on you instead.

This number called my number saying they were from the US Treasury and wanted my information.  When I told them I didn't have any proof of who they were so I wasn't going to tell them anything they hung up.

'Tis the season for phone scams! If you receive a call from someone saying that your number was randomly selected to receive a government grant... it's a scam. They are currently calling Suddenlink Communications phone service customers.

I received a call from this number this morning - asking for me by name - indicating they were from the US Treasury Dept and that I had been randomly selected to receive a grant.  I hung up on them.  What bothers me more than anything is that I have only had this number for 4 weeks and have given it to NO ONE.  How did they get my name and number???

Who pays for long distance anymore?? And, who wants to "stall" on the line either.  Just hang up or do not answer.  They eventually get the hint.
