The company that called me was Indiana Children Services. I was calling back the number also but I did some research and the company calls from a auto-mated dialers so what you have to do is call the phone number on the invoice, after doing extensive research the company infact is legit. Just do your home work the company is registered with Secretary of State. As far as the BBB a company has to pay top dollars to be on that list and if you're a non-profit org how can you afford that. I also looked into the house, it's not a 200 thousand $ home it's on the southeast sid of town. To sum it all up the company is legit.

I went on the Indiana secretary of state web site and they are listed as Children Services and is a dba of Indiana Youth Achievement League, Inc. This company has been around sice 2006 and I have done more reserch and found that they do help out with alot of good things in the state. I found Toys for Tots, Cystic Fibrosis and also The Julian Center, along with an after school chess club. So it seems to be beter then alot of the other ones out there! So I dont understand were everyone gets all this negativity? But like you hear dont believe everything you read on the internet. I would recomend them I even had them send me a copy of there Financial statement...looked good to me

after reading the afore-mentioned messages regarding the above info i infact did some leg work on this organization and found they were in excellent standing with the secretary of state as a gold member. I haven't ever received a letter  in the mail but if the opportunity presented itself i think i would feel okay with sending my pledge to this outfit. they are a 501 c3 charity and the time and money it takes to get that done properly wouldnt involve a shady outfit .

I just received a call from the so called "Indiana Childrens Services" asking for a donation.  The number that registered on my caller ID was 317-947-4998.  I asked them where their offices were and they said "the State of Indiana, Indianapolis".  I said, "I live in the State of Indiana, Indianapolis but where are your headquarters?"  They told me at Franklin Road and Edgewood on the Southside of Indianapolis by Frankilin High School.  I immediately did a search on the organization and found this.  Interesting!  Pays to research.

I received a call last night asking for me by my lesser used name, and they identified themselves as the Indiana Children's Services stating they accept 100% tax free donations to provide support to shelters and battered women services. While it sounded good, I asked what organizations they sponsor and the gentleman (who kept claring his throat repeatedly) stated he was just a volunteer and that he did not know what specific programs and woul I like to speak with a sponsor? He could not answer any specific questions so I told him I was not interested... I have never heard of this organization, which is not to say it is not legit. But perhaps they need better phone operators who can answer basic questions like which agencies are they actually serving in the area!

We are fairly new and are learning as we go but all monies donated goes directly to the charity unlike alot of orgainazations who call. Most chairity's that call u are only getting between 10 and 20 percent. We are trying our best to do it ourselves.

Most ppl do not realize that the BBB is a paid service and if u want a good response about your company or charity you have to pay them. If it is a legit Charity they will be 100% tax-deductible.Indiana Children Services President and Exec Director do not get a salary. Look at how much any of Special Olympics or United way Directors make then come donate to a local charity. Do your homework. Do u want to be donating to a charity whos director recieves a six figure salary? Do u want to donate a charity that hires Telemarketing companies to call u and keep over 75% of the monies raise? Or do u want to donate to a volunteer or minumim wage empolyee of the charity so that a 100% of your donation goes directly to the charity.

I got a call from Indiana Children's Services saying they were collecting for various children's services such as summer camps and domestic abuse among other things. The volunteer that called me said they had been around since 1996 and that 100% of donations go to the charity.

Check "Volunteer" post of January 2009. What I was told and what they say don't match up.

It is always my practice when receiving a call from a new charity to check them out first.

I'm not sure about the charity, but I ran across their web site that listed the local charities to which they donate. You could probably call any one of them to verify if they receive funds from them.

Im in Indiana and received a phone call from them the end of last year. They wanted a cc donation but I said that I needed to check them out first and to send me the information. They said they would if I would pledge at least $10 so it would be worth them sending it. I also asked for a website and they didnt have one. I didnt feel right about it and never sent the money. Last night I got a call but it was a blocked number,when I answered it was them again. I just asked for the address and said I would send a check. It was an Indianapolis adr. Glad I checked into it before sending any money.

Everyone on this post should be ashamed of themselves! And you all know it. I am a volunteer for this company and none of these things go on with this company and a $200,000 house. Get real. Do your research and you will see.
As far as the BBB goes, do you know you have to pay a fee to be on that list and we are a non-profit org. You can't afford that and keep 100% for the children. At least they give 100% to the org. United Way gets like 50% while the CEO makes $200+ a year. Our president makes nothing, so before you start talking, get your facts. That's how rumors get started.

Excellent charity! The people I talked to on the phone were wonderful, very polite! I checked with the Secretary of State just to be sure and was told it was the best charity around to send my money to!

I received a phone call from a volunteer from Indiana Children Services.  The number on caller ID was 850-564-5849 out of Florida.  I did some more research after I found this web page.  I searched on http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/np.asp using the tax ID # from their web site  No such ID found.  I then tried a google search on the tax ID #.  it came up with two web site entries:

So I did a whois lookup on the domain.  It is registered through godaddy.com.  Went to godaddy.com to check on who owns the websites.  The following information is on the above two mentioned sites

I would think twice before sending them money.  My guess is that the states listed above have laws that say a charity only has to have a mailing address to operate in said state.  I bet that all mail going to these locations is actually being forwarded to Milton, Florida, the address of the registrant of all these sites.

Received a call for donation for Indiana Children Services but # 850-564-5528 was from Milton, Florida. I asked for information be sent and received a letter asking for $20.00 donation along with an envelope addressed to Indiana Children Services  9702 E Washington St Suite 400 #311 Indianapolis, IN  46229. Researched address and it's a UPS STORE. Their Tax ID 30-524858 comes up also with AL, Ohio Children Services. Something else strange is that they paid for postage to mail me the donation letter and I thought a 501 c charity shouldn't have to?

Also the other Children Services are in different states such as Ohio, Alabama, and their addresses are also  UPS STORES! Makes you wonder where they're really located. Check for your self google address and delete the Unit (or Box) # and it gives you address of UPS.

I was contacted by Indiana Children and Family Servies (formerly Indiana Children Services) to donate to help children in shelters and terminally ill children.  I received the letter in the mail, it stated some of the shelters in my area.  I contacted my shelters and they said this is a scam, and have a lawyer forcing them to take them of the website.  They said this organization originated in Florida and has multiple lawsuits against them and they have moved here.  Better Business Bureau said they have an application from them but they are investigating.  That does not mean they are BBB approved!  Please if you want your money to really go to children, you could safely donate directly to your local shelter or children service.

TOTAL 100% SCAM!!  I work just a few days, once I noticed the president is taking ALL the money, I literally walked out!  The people above that say its real LOL is FAKE probably the owner himself! NO ONE volunteers for them!  also go under Indiana youth achievement league www.youthal.org
PLEASE HELP STOP THESE BAD PEOPLE!!
