Number keeps calling my home number once a day and saying nothing

stop calling and harassing people.

Just called my cell and asked for "Mrs. Mullins".  That's not me and I don't know anyone named Mullins.

Called again at 9:50 am.  I didn't answer this time and they left no message.  Since they did not identify themselves the last time they called, and I explained that I am not the person they are looking for, they have no reason to continue calling my cell phone.

Called my cell again, January 8, 2012, 7:30pm.  Did not answer, since I now have them programmed into my phone as "scam".  They did not leave a message.

Getting a similar call from some annoying company. I hope Sunshia-Kiawamone Net Services  can learn to not do things like this. Asking if a certain someone is home, especially when they don't live there is not a good business practice.

Just a reminder....  Being on the Do Not Call list only prevents legitimate businesses from calling you.  If they do, you should report them.

These scam callers do not abide by the DNC rules.  Report them to the DNC every time they call you.  THEN you must contact your state attorney general's office to report the scammers, mentioning that you've repeatedly reported them to the DNC.

When the Atty Gen gets involved is when all the DNC records are actually looked at by someone (up until you get the lawyers involved, the reports are merely filed away for future litigation, should you pursue it).  

To recap:

The government Do Not Call list will not stop scammers from calling you.  You must report them to the DNC to leave a "paper trail", then contact the attorney general.  The atty general will then access the DNC complaint logs and advise you from there.  I forgot how much the fines are, but it's around $16,000 or more per illegal call, if I remember correctly.

Big surprise, they've called again.   8:26 pm  Never gonna answer, gonna keep reporting. :P

Called me again at 9:19 am.  Didn't pick up.

5:00pm Sunday afternoon.  Didn't pick up.  I have them saved in my phone as "scam" so it tells me exactly who's calling. :)

Called before 9:00 am.  Telemarketing calls to cell phones should be considered theft.  There's an extra insult involved when you have to actually pay to receive unwanted sales calls.

Called my cell just now.  Ignored them again.

Just called a few minutes ago.  Caller ID identified them as "childhood leukemia".  Phone rang 8 times then stopped.  Our answering machine is no longer turned on, so we get fewer calls these days.

rec'd the same call today. NO message but the caller id showed "childhood leukemia".. Phone number 317-472-8016.

It came up on my caller ID as Childhood Leuke.  Did not answer.  No message.

Woman told me she was from the National Leukemia Foundation or something similar (she did mention children).  She said, "All we want is to put a smile on a child's face..."  She finished her spiel with, "We'd like to solicit a one-time donation," and finished with, "Is that okay?"  I thought that was a strange way to ask for money.  Maybe it's common.  I haven't received unsolicited calls in years.

I converted my land line number to a cell (using my same number) in December.  I was on DNC for years, and now this.  Never had a non-profit call until today.

I said I don't donate over the phone and ended the call. As I was ending the call, I could hear her responding.  Whether it's legit or not, I don't care.  I don't acknowledge unsolicited calls.

These idiots called again at 8:06 am.  So tired of the scams and the uselessness of the "do not call" registry.

The phone rang twice, I answered, no one there! It does show "CHILDHOOD LEUKE" is what showed on caller id.

Charities, politics, and one other one are able to call and solicite, even when on the DNC list! You have to tell them NOT TO CALL! After the third time of telling them to remove your number, you go on the FCC site and file a complaint and they could face up to a $16,000.00 fine of they do NOT comply and you follow through!

I think it is disgusting that they cannot just NOT call and STOP calling the first time we request it! We shouldn't have to fight to keep our privacy and scammers from calling our phones!!

It should be against the law for anyone to solicite calls from businesses and calling our homes!! It wastes our time from real customers and time when we are home with family!

Krystal,  these calls are not really from a charity called Childhood Leukemia.  They are scammers using that name to try to get around the Do Not Call law.

Another scam used to get around the law is a survey that claims to be political.  Politicians making calls is an exemption to the DNC law, but scammers promising you a free vacation if you answer their "political" survey is not an exemption.  It's a scam.

Also, the Do Not Call registry will not do a thing to stop unwanted calls no matter how many times you report the offending caller.  All the do not call registry does is keep a log of all your complaints so that when you go to the state Attorney General to initiate a lawsuit against the scam callers, the officials can access the DNC database to see how many people are complaining about that number and how often they are calling people.  That's when the up to $16,000 per call fine comes in, only after the Attorney General successfully brings a lawsuit against the offenders.
