As soon as I answered she said "Since you have paid your account on time, we can give you lower interest rates", I just hung up because I was in the midst of fixing lunch for the family.  She didn't even say what credit card co she was representing.

While I was reporting the security system telemarketer this other number came in with a pause and then a hang-up.  We have received this call many times about a credit card offer....I would estimate at least 20 calls have been received with this offer to reduce you interest on a credit card.  This goes on all day and evening-- the do not call list is a big joke!

I keep my phone ringer turned off because of all the telemarketing calls I get. The caller ID shown on the phone and also on the TV screen determine if I will answer the call, generally not. My friends and family know to leave a short voice mail and I will call them back, at my convenience.

I keep getting calls from this number too. I don't answer either. When I see it's this number or any other number I don't recognize as a personal call, I pick up the receiver on the 2nd ring and hang right back up again. That way the caller thinks they reached a number not in service or a wrong number.

If you do this often enough, and I know it's a major pain, they WILL finally stop calling. If you have the patience, this will work.

"Congratulations! Since you have paid your account on time, you are eligible for lower interest rates on your credit card". It was a recording.  I haven't had a credit card in over a decade and have had my phone number almost 2 decades so it isn't like they are trying to reach the person who had the number before me.  Just a bunch of scammers!

I've been wondering the same thing ... What's the purpose of the DNC registry if these "worms" can ignore it?!

The honest telemarketers will use and obey the DNC list and laws. The scammers will not and have ways to make it nearly impossible to catch them. They will continue for as long as they can get at least 1% of the 1000's of illegal calls on the hook for the scam. Now-a-days you just have to 1) not answer unrecognized numbers and let it go to voice (then check back here to see if it was reported (I just did this), 2) if able, block that number from calling you (your phone, you'll have to figure it out), 3) report it to the FCC-they wont follow up with you personally but will keep record of it for any further prosecution or case.

kind of like gun laws... the honest citizen will obey them, the criminally inclined will not, so the laws only really hurt the honest ones.

If you want these calls to stop you can go to fcc.gov and file and complaint. It takes a little time, but it's worth it to try to catch these criminals. The FCC can do nothing if you don't report it. The DO NOT CALL list does work for the honest solicitors. For honest solicitors, they actually use the DO NOT CALL LIST, but rest assured some of the calls you may get are from honest people. Example is: any organization you belong to can call you, such as your church, your school, your political party, your medical company, your insurance company, your financial institution, etc. If it comes up "UNKNOWN" it's probably a scam, and you should report it, but it's hard to report it if you don't answer it to know what's on the other end.Tell them to stop calling. If they still call, you truly have a legitimate case and must report it to the FCC. Believe me, reporting it to the FCC does work. The FCC can do nothing, if you don't report it. I keep a list with dates, times & phone numbers and submit an FCC complaint each week if necessary. I've rec'd many thank you letters from the FCC, and yes, some criminals keep getting new numbers, but we can curb the problem if we are proactive. If we do nothing, we get nothing!!!
