- Jill| 1 replyRecieved a butt of calls from this number. Never returned any. Wish I would of cause the payments are outragous. If i had spoken to them earlier would saved me money. This is a good program and not a scam. Theses are serious.

- DianeWhat are they? I got a call yesterday and would not give me any information. They called my office also. Help!
- SaraACT debt collectors, especially working for federal student loan collections. They don't seem to be practicing business on the up and up though. I gave them my email address Friday, and this week my incoming spam has trebled, mostly debt or credit related scams.
If they call you listen to what they have to say about your debt, but take their "rules" with a grain of salt. Get everything on paper, and consult a lawyer.- Caller: ACT
- TyrantXdotcomIt is a collection agency
a VERY unprofessional one, they wouldn't give me a main number or anyone else to talk to but after some looking here was what I got

They will call screen you so if they don't want to deal with your remove my number request they will send you straight to voicemail as I found out after becoming irate when they called me 10 times in 2 hours and Id had enough. Tell em to [***] that you don't know who they want. Ive read in sever forums where this company is engaging in ILLEGAL tactics to get information on people they are trying to find, from saying it's in regards to a loan or rental app, or in my case said they were a "Friend" and that she wasn't with a company until I said I was her hubby then things changed and she tried saying she worked for the Federal Gov (which btw is a BIG NO NO) so I have reported them to the FCC, my State Attorney General, as well as the FBI (since they work the Fed gov and all). My advise tell them NOTHING, these people could be also trying to harvest info for scammers, they are a NEW company with no past yet so I wouldn't trust them at all, simply call your creditor to take care of it.- Caller: ACT
- WBThis company is called Account Control Technology. They have several locations, the one calling us is located in San Angelo, TX. They have somehow gotten MY PARENTS number, and are calling to talk to my brother-in-law (my husband's brother, no relation to my parents). He lives in a different state. They will not believe that he will not be found here. They specialize in collecting on school loans. We got one call from a Donna, that acted like a "friend". This time it was Michelle Lesfler calling and she repeatedly asked for a phone number, which neither we nor my parents know. He generally uses a phone card to call. She then asked to speak to another member of the family because she wanted to ask them the SAME questions. It seems that this firm goes to great lengths (not so legal, it would appear) to collect on student loans. She finally said it was "it was VERY important that my brother-in-law call back" not once saying a reason for their call. The website is www.accountcontrol.com You can find their addresses, and their Mission Statement, on the website. We'll be reporting them if they keep it up.

- AnonCaller ID Showed DCS, When I answered a woman asked for me by name and when I acknowledged it she asked if I knew someone that lives on my street, she gave a name and address and stated that she wanted to ask me a few questions about this person. I told her I did not know anyone by the name she gave or at the address she gave. She started to ask me more questions when i excused myself and hung up.
- Billy| 2 repliesI keep getting calls from this number 325-224-3900 amd they will not leave messages. They keep calling then hang up when voice mail kicks on. I will never answer after reading the above remarks. I know I owe no loans, so they can move on!!
- Caller: nothing just number
- VictoriaHave gotten several calls to my home (which is unlisted and on the Do Not Call list) and now to my cell phone. It comes in as unlisted to my cell but as "Account Control" on my home caller ID. It seems to be a rollover line from the main number as the calls I receive are from 325.224.3940.
I have no student loans and never have. So this is not in connection to that.
They do not leave a message.- Caller: Account Control
- JERRY| 2 repliesI got a call from these people before. Kept hanging up on them and not listening to them. They even called my job and kept asking for me. Come to find out these people are legit. Due to me not calling back I now am getting garnished for my student loan, if u do have a student loan at least listen to these people cause they will garnish you!!!

- shannon replies to JERRY| 1 replyno jerry they wont ,these people have no power to do much.ive dealt with them like everyone else.they called my grandmother and told her they were a freind of mine so i talked to them and then turnes them over to the ag of my state and the ftc they are being invetigated for the types of practices they use.
- JERRY replies to shannonShannon you're right the company doesn't have the power but they work with the Department of Education. The Dept of Education are the ones garnishing me. These people call all the damn time to get u in a payment plan. If u refuse the payment plan then they will tell the Dept of Education and then they will start garnishing you
- Sunny SengvilayI don't know who this is and I want them to stop calling me. They are calling while I am at work, and it can cause me my job. So, please make them stop calling me.
- Caller: Unknown
- Senior citizenI just a call from this number, and they asked if I was (me, by first name). I asked who is calling, and the answer was "Celina". I then asked what was the purpose of her call and she just again asked for me. I didn't play her game and told her good bye. I don't have any debts, so I don't need to receive calls from Debt Collectors!
- Caller: Caller ID "Account Control"
- U.N.Owen| 1 replyKnow your rights!
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act also says a collector -
Cannot threaten to tell anyone else about your debt
Cannot call your place of work except in very, very limited circumstances
Must stop calling your workplace as soon as you ask him to stop
Cannot garnish, or threaten to garnish, your wages.- Call type: Debt collector
- u_r_scum replies to Jill...right...nice try scammer.
- I know my [***] replies to U.N.OwenThere can be NO threatening of informing or ACTUAL informing of anyone about your debt. The people they CAN inform are....... Spouse in most states, people that you have approved to communicate with them on your account, or your employer for the sake of garnishment.
CAN call your place of work under almost ANY circumstances to find out how to get in touch with you.
They DO have to STOP calling when they are told to stop.
CAN garnish depending on the company (typically the only way not to be garnished is if you work for the government).
CAN threaten to garnish IF AND ONLY IF they CAN and INTEND to move it forward for garnishment.
ONE OF THE WORST THINGS YOU CAN DO IS IGNORE PEOPLE COLLECTING ON STUDENT LOANS, STUDENT LOANS DO NOT GO AWAY EVER, THEY ARE NOT DISCHARGED IN BANKRUPTCY, THEY HAVE NO STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS!!!!!!! IF YOU DO NOT KNOW ABOUT STUDENT LOAN COLLECTION LAWS THEN STOP ADVISING PEOPLE ON HOW TO HANDLE THEM YOU WILL MAKE THEIR SITUATION WORSE - I know my [***]These companies may call you in an attempt to locate a possible friend, neighbor, relative or cohort of yours that owes a debt, just because they are calling you doesn't mean they are trying to get money from you. I personally have rehabilitated student loans and its one of the best things I've ever done for myself, stop dodging debt collectors SUCK UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS AND DECISIONS. Student loans will haunt you for LIFE, there is NOTHING you can do to get them to go away except pay them. For those with HUGE balances your best bet may be litigation to get the balance down but you will not get away for free. d
