Scam call.  Guy with thick non-US accent called to tell me my computer was sending out "errors" and I probably had a virus, and wanted me to get on my computer.  I just asked him what my IP address was, and he read off some bogus numbers, and proceeded to hang up when challenged.

I called back but got the "number not in service" or some such.

Same call for me.  He claimed he was from Microsoft and my computer was sending error messages.  I asked him which computer? I have twelve. That threw him for a minute.  Then he asked if they all use the same WiFi. "Some do, some are cabled.  Btw how the fudge did you get my cell number? All my business with Microsoft goes through my MSDN license.  End of call.

I also received a call from this number -- he said something about my computer sending out a virus and he mentioned Windows. When I told him we don't have a Windows operating system, he asked me if I had a laptop, I said "no." I then asked him how he got my number -- he just said that he is from "Windows" and something about spyware and signals being sent. I hung up.

I received a call from 327-416-5409, the caller had a heavy Indian accent but identified himself with an English name and claimed to be from Microsoft. He explained that I had a computer that had corrupted dll files and was sending Microsoft error messages. He told me how to open event viewer to see all of the "bad" messages.

He then connected me with a "Senior Technician" who once again explained all of the errors on my computer. I should note that the first guy had me get to a command window and run a command "assoc" and he pointed out the computer id number.

The senior technician called me back when I hung up on him when he directed me to the website www.ammyy.com. On that site was a warning about scammers using their site. It is a remote access software application.

After 30 years in the computer business I was not about the let someone access my computer. I wanted to see how far the scam would go. He did not call back after I screamed and him and hung up.

This person called to let me know he was getting an error from my computer. He has called before and today I told him how can you get an error from my computer because I don't have one. He hung up shortly afterwards.

I, too, got a call from this number. Caller had Indian accent, knew my name, told me my computer was sending error messages related to the WIndows operating system, and asked me to get in front of my computer so he could guide me to confirm the errors. Suspicious, I asked what company he was with. He replied, "The Windows operating system." Now convinced it was a scam, I asked, "You're with the Windows operating system company?" He hung up and I blocked this phone number. Obviously, he was trying to trick me into giving him access my computer, but I'm just as concerned that he had my name and phone number.

I received a call from this number.  The man had a thick accent and was a bit hard to understand. He did say that my wireless network had downloaded a virus. When I asked him what type of virus he asked me to go to my computer and he would fix it. I asked him again about the virus and I would fix it myself. But he kept insisting I get on my computer. I then asked him what IP address he had for me, he could not answer and again asked me to get on my computer.  A few more words were exchanged and he became very demanding. When I would not give in to his requests he finally hung up on me.  I have sent an email to my local news station hoping they will advise their viewers about this scam.

Called several times and sometimes just yells vulgar words at me and tells me to eat [***].  Usually references Windows or Microsoft and that my computer is sending out bad links/messages to the Windows community and that my computer needs lots of work.  I told him Several times to stop calling me and to go f%$#K himself.  they call about once a week and want remote access to my computer, Don't let them do this to you...They can steal passwords and plant Malware on your computer.  This is a scam!!

Called our NY home at 7 am! I'm about ready to cancel our home landline! (It's useless unless you need to get discounts at CVS or the supermarket) I'm AM unplugging all the bedroom extensions as of today though cuz these telemarketers call in the wee wee hours (that's really early FYI) My question is why don't the gov't agencies get on these jerks and prosecute them?
