Caller said he was from IRS. I asked for his IRS 800 number,and he responded with a valid number, but informed me that there would be a 40 minute hold time calling that number. I then asked for his ID #, and he promptly hung up.

Fraud call saying from IRS and a time sensitive issue. Pl hang up. IRS never calls.

Same as other commentators wrote. Prerecorded message saying she was from IRS and had important message to call her back.  Hung up. IRS doesn't call. Sends letters only.

Left a message saying they are an agent from the IRS, I called back and the man (with foreign accent) identified himself as an agent from the IRS. he th threaten me with police and arrest and hung up the call.

A recording which claimed to be from the IRS.  Can be upsetting to some, especially to older folks.  Yes, please call the FTC at 877-382-4357 and report this number.

I got this same call at 5:17 this morning with the same message. I called the ftc (877-382-4357) as you recommended and gave them a full report of the call. They were pleased that I called and will put the information into a database that they use to track and find scanalous abusers. thanks for the into.

Got an automated mess from this number claiming their calling from irs and wanting to take some sort of actions.

FRAUD -  I have no IRS issues and I think I would have gotten a letter, not a threatening robocall.

Yes, the IRS will never call you.  They will send you a letter.  This IRS SCAM was been around for a while.

also got this same call. blocking sender.called FTC as suggested above. They were very nice to deal with.

I just got this same phone call with someone with an Indian accent. They said I will be put in jail if I don't take action to pay them right now.

Got a call from the same 347 number. If you get a voice mail do not call them back. Call 877-382-4357 and provide them with a full report. If you owed $ to the IRS they would contact you by mail notice first.

I received a call this morning from this # but don't kwou who he was. Can someone  do something about theses peoples it's getting out of control you pay your phone your private property and you not safe . What kind of America we're living in today.

Received a recorded "robot" message that it was the IRS I needed to call back because it was an urgent issue

"I need you or your retained attorney at record to return the call.  The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive and urgent issue. [Unclear first name] Smith from the Internal Revenue Service. The hotline to that position is 347-888-4888 and out of peak number is 347-888-4888. Don't disregard this message and do return the call before we take further action against you. Good Bye and take care."

who are these people?  are they really IRS?

These folks are based out of Islamabad or Lahore in Pakistan. I called these scammers back and could lucidly hear their dialect in the background.
This is the second tel# they have used. I played along and they directed me to use some pre-paid card from Walgreens.
