I got a voice mail on my cell phone, shown as being from 401-369-0705. This coincided with a missed call from 612-808-8171; I don't understand how the call could show one number and the voice mail another. The message started in mid-sentence (evidently a robot that didn't wait for the tone) and was offering me credit, with the condition that I had to return the call today to qualify.

Multiple fraud markers: (1) Telemarketing call to a cell phone. (2) Robocall to voicemail. (3) Insistence on immediate response to qualify.

I finally figured it out.  It is the voicemail number from tracfone.  To pick up your voicemail messages just press and hold the number 1 on the keypad and then you can listen to the message and/or delete it.

This number is also used for ATT voicemail

Get two or three voice mails from this number each week.  When I call back there's nothing but static.  Who is responsible?

Got this on my voice mail. Did not call back. It was done on October 3.  Has been blocked.

I have received 4 calls from this number and it is all in Spanish.  I don't know to stop them or delete them.

Google your phone to see how to block calls. I have them blocked, but they continue to call regularly. It doesn't use any minutes because it is blocked and you don't hear anything when they call so let them call.

Been getting robo call from this # for a couple of days.  Recorded voice says it from the IRS...final call!

This was a scam call, and took me for $399.95 for a security system that was not legit.    Phone Number   401-369-3705

Its called spoofing. The scammers can use something (i.e. MagicJack) to make it look like a call from any #, usually in your area code, which usually makes people more likely to answer. But they cant "spoof" that number to your voicemail, so the call shows up as a fake number, but the VM will show the real source #. Google "call spoofing" for more info about what these scumbags are up to.
