This is VMS security systems that is doing cold calling but they say that we did some kind of survey for them and now have "won" a $1200.00 security system with free installation with a monitoring charge that is about a dollar a day. Their web site is: http://vmsalarms.com/
They have a "technician" call you back who is actually just another sales person who gives you a line a crap about how their system works and how it is better and cheaper than any other provider. The "technician" knows little about the electronics of the system and tries to BS you if you ask a technical question. The scam part is that the system you "won" is a minimum system and if you have more than a simple apartment, you will have to buy the extra door and window and motion alarms. My "free" system would have cost me $635.00, plus $36 a month for the monitoring.

They called me on my cell phone - not sure where they got it from - but after giving me the I won speal (of course I was suspicious since I'd recently also won $240,000 - and alls I had to do to get it was pay taxes on it FIRST) - I told them sure, you can have a tech call me - but, then she asked my name. I would think that would be a small piece of information to have pre-acquired about the 'winner' of a $1200 anything! I haven't answered their calls, but am glad you guys commented so now when I do answer I can at least be armed with info. Thanks folks!

First call came from 212-201-1844 [Manhattan, NY], which when called back is "Not in Service". Then a call from Jason at 401-365-1125 [Pawtucket, RI]. Same story about survey, free $1200 system if a sign put up and we told our neighbors and friends, said they would cover all the doors, $36/month but did not state length of contract. Asked if we had any dogs and what kind
Installation by Leon Knickerbocker was scheduled for 9AM the next morning, which is when the calls from this number started and many again from 365-1125. Leon never showed up, but they said he knocked on the door repeatedly without an answer, no vehicles ever entered the long driveway.
Call back to 1-866-493-1253 x 258 which is the number listed on the website

These idiots call 3 to 5 times a day. They will drive you nuts. This VMS company is a big SCAM. They claim they are not selling anything but as soon as they think you may be interested in the "alledged free" alarm system you won, they will sell you thousands of dollars of unneeded garbage. The alarm system is three times higher in price than any other alarm company. Someone from the US federal government needs to shut them down. I'm on the "national Do Not Call" list and they still called multiple times per day even after we said NO No No. Soon this turned into us saying "well you know that you're in a deadend job. I'm sure you thought about commiting suicide. Why don't you just do it and save the rest of the world." Hopefully, the salespeople will take the hint. If we were successful in just one person killing themselves. The world would be a better place for the rest of us. thank you for reading this and have a great day!

Keep calling me despite the fact that I'm on the Do Not Call list, and that I have personally told "Jason" or whatever the hell his name is to take me off of their list. I have also asked how they got my number. Instead of receiving an answer, he hangs up in a huff (like I'm the one calling and harassing him...). Then they call again 2 hours later.

When they call me, they don't tell me I've won a free system, but that there has been a bunch of home break-ins in my area (not sure how they know what "my" area is, because I live 1500 miles from Rhode Island, where the call comes from), but that if I simply give them my home address and some other info, they'll come to my house about installing a system. Oh is that all? I'm totally in the practice of giving my home address to strange men who call me on the phone. What a crock of bull.

Wow! Thank you for all your posts everyone, here goes:

A few months ago I received numerous calls from today was from 212-201-1844 Manhattan, NY per according to my call history. I asked several times quite pleasantly to be taken off their call list to which at first it seemed my request was not getting through as I still received multiple calls. Then all of a sudden the calls stopped and I thought "Yes!". However this morning it started all up again first I received a call from +81 32010456 where the gentleman could not explain where exactly my number and then asked for my name. I became leery and advised several times I was not comfortable giving out any information - also that the gentleman had reached me at work so I did not have the time to devote to getting more information. Finally the male caller stated that a Supervisor would call and be sure to answer my phone - I thanked him for his time. Exactly 21 mins what I assume to be a Supervisor called me two times in a row - still at work I was uanble to answer. I have reported this call before to AT&T and now I will add the new contact information - hopefully something can be done :) Sincerely M

Just set up a "silent" ringtone, and when you get numbers such as this, add it there.. they only get silence and you are not bothered. I too am on the do not call list, but, I guess it just doesn't work.. That list is a scam. (imo)
