These people have called me about two a week with a recording saying "this is your final call to renew your car warranty."  Well, it's never the final call, because they all over and over.  I've spoken with a live person, but they refuse to tell me the name of their company.  I even asked them to stop calling me, but they keep calling.

After some online research, it looks like the calls are coming from Citistream Communications.  http://www.citistream.com/Page_1.html  1-866-708-0401

I don't use my cell number for commercial reasons.  Any idea how they collect cell numbers?  I haven't registered for any credit cards or used my cell number for contact information for any online purchases.

Telemarketing from "insurance" group - no ID & disconnected when trying to get info.  Filed formal complaint with the FCC at http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

Most effective method - IF enough people will also file.

Just got this call 24 Mar Tues 2:43 PM PST.  Got my $10 Tracphone and minute cards at Target about 4 months ago.  Very limited use.  Other than via Tracphone don't know how Citistream would know my number.  How long does it take to file formal FCC complaint?  Thanks for the info AVR - ID!

I got a call from this number on my LAND LINE... it was a similar scam, but not about auto warranty.  This time the message sounded like I have an overdue credit card bill, (and they want to offer me a way to consolidate bills, take over debt, etc.).  It's a phishing scam.  I pressed and got a person, who identified their company as "Credit Services" before she began refusing to answer further questions.  She just asked (I didn't give any info).  Crooked scammers... wish I had the resources to nail them.

This number called my cell phone 2x in the past 2 days. It's crazy that telemarketers can call whoever they want. In NJ, it's a state law not to use your phone in the car, and I can just envision myself answering an unsolicited junk call - and getting pulled over for breaking the law. How can these people be stopped?

omg! i didnt even know u could track peoples numbers online.!!! but i just typed in the number in and i clicked on this website.  and i thought i was the only person who has gotten these stupid calls from some people telling me that my cars warranty had expired and that this was my last chance and blah, blah, blah...  theyve been calling me for like over 3 months telling me the same thing but call me from different area codes.  I actually got tired of receiving these calls and called one number back and got an actual person and he told me to give him my vin# and i asked for what (and asked how did they get my number and  that i wanted them to stop calling me) he didnt even say the companies name and he had like a foreign accent. didnt believe half the crap he said. so i just hung up. i just saved the number and put it under "DONT ANSWER"  . the worst part was that some how they got my address and started sending the same crap in the mail. i just threw em away. i somehow called the number again and listened to all the options they had and at the very end the machine said if i would like to stop receiving these calls and i pressed yes (#1) it took over 4 times (listening to same stupid options over and over again) finally it WORKED! but a month later another number started calling saying something about "CONSOLIDATED CREDIT COMPANY"  I JUST IGNORE THE NUMBER. i dont give my number to anybody. and my numbers from another state and i live in  completely different state! so now im going to have to change my number.

    To Whom this may concern:

I have received many calls to my cell phone from you idiots @501XXXXXXX. This has to stop immediately. Unfortunately for you, I am a Hacker (The friendly kind...most of the time).
STOP calling my number. The next time you call me I will hit your systems back with BAD INTENTIONS !! This is NOT a threat. This is action/reaction. You don't call me and I will forget you exist.

Since the economy went to crap I've gotten a deluge of these calls both at home and on my cell.  There are even "mule money" employment scams on the popular job hunting web sites that are being offered. They originate from E. Europe and Russia.

Yes, this annoyance has made it's way to my seldom used cell phone.  Sometimes they leave a recorded message.  I don't answer my phone ever unless I know who calling, anyway.  Hey "Hacker Guy", hack'em for me, too, will ya?
