I answered my cell, only to have someone say,  it ws the wrong #
Sounded pretty fishy to me

Usually telemarkets claiming "wrong number" continually like this means that they are looking for business lines.  The autodialer (a predictive dialer) can tell just by a short answer like "Hello?" or a business answer will be much longer.

caller told me he had the wrong number and hung up the first time he called.  the second time it happened 2 hours later, same thing....

Same thing. Don't pick up. Its a weird recorded message. A guy saying he has the wrong number then clicks.

They called me twice within 6 hours and I didn't pick up either time.  Although, a word of caution to anyone who picks up out of curiosity:  I've  heard of telephone scams where picking up an unknown phone call or reading an unknown text message will automatically bill your account for thousands of dollars. Please be careful.

Have received the same 'sorry, i dialed the wrong number' message twice today. JM commented that maybe it's an autodialer and can recognize a short word like 'hello', and disconnecting since it's not a business. R u suggesting we make our initial answer longer, just keep talking?

Called twice today, 1st time I didn't answer 2nd time I answered and a weird male voice says he has the wrong number.

I'm in Illinois. Just called my phone company and blocked the number. Hopefully, that'll stop it. Seems to be primarily this number from which we all are receiving the calls.

Received this call on my cell phone, the guy said he had the wrong number, and hung up.

Got 2 calls from this #. Didn't pick up. Caller ID says it's from Omaha NE. Figured they're selling steaks :)
Just called back and got a recording w/ woman's voice thanking me for calling back and instructing me to press 1 if I wish to be removed from their calling list and do not wish to receive info about future promotions. I pressed 1 and call was ended.

Calls my home number and cell number and if I answer, says "wrong number".  I call back and get the message to "press 1" I do, and they keep calling.  I am already on the "Don't call list" with both numbers.

Same thing - called 2 different days last week.  First they call my home phone - then they call my cell phone.  Freaky old man says he has the wrong number.

Did it again today.  first the home # then the cell.

Next time I see the caller ID I'm going to answer as a business and see if I get something different.
