A man with an accent called at 9:23am claiming my visa card had been used to make an online purchase for $390 and wanted me to confirm I had authorized it.  His answers to my questions made me suspicious.  Then when he told me which bank the visa card was from I knew it was a scam as I do not have a card with that bank and I hung up.

I just received a call from this number. A man with an Indian accent told me that 390 had been taken with my card. He did not say which card, but he asked me when I had last used my card. I hung up .
This is annoying, and a little unnerving, as he addressed me by name. Next time I will not pick up the phone when that number is displayed.

Someone with an Indian accent called to let me know he was calling from the RCMP to alert me (and he had my full name) that my Visa Card had been used for fraudulent activity.  As I don't have a Visa card with that bank I started asking for his name, telephone number etc.  He hung up.
Beware....this is an attempt to scam you.  The telephone number that appeared on my screen was 1-403-277-0858.

Same as others report: Indian accent, claimed a fraudulent Western Union transfer had been charged on a debit card. Tried to stop me hanging up to call my bank, threatening that the fraudulent transaction would be authorized if I didn't speak to him. 403 277 0858. The government/telcom companies should be doing more to prevent this fraud.

An East Indian man just called saying he was with  visa security. I said I don't need your services. He says I am not offering services.
He then goes on to say that someone used my visa for 300 at 3 am this morning. So I asked who do you work for. He says he now works for td bank. I said that's great I don't have an account with td. Then he hung up.
I guess he did not like my original Canadian accent!
403 area code is southern Alberta.

Call came at 0901 Oct 24, 2016.  SE Asian male asked if I had used my VISA card overnight to make an online purchase.  Call advanced one step further, he claimed he would 'return the money' to my account but needed my Bank Client Card since he was unable to return it directly to my VISA account (which of course is not the case).  When I called him on it he said I should go to my bank and immediately hung up.  Throughout the call there was a background noise track in the form of a 'busy call center'.  Not credible but might trap the unwary.

Called VISA and naturally there had been no activity on my card and neither was there an immediate security issue.  Recommended I go to the RCMP's fraud prevention service  (Toll Free 1-888-495-8501 which was busy but in turn recommended I go to the online service which required the submission of a lot of stuff.  Decided to go to the neighborhood station instead.

A call woke me up this morning saying they were from Visa Security. Looking for Mrs. <my last name>.  They asked if I had purchased 2 speakers at 4am for $800 on my Visa.  I said no.  They asked me for the first 4 digits of my Visa (this is to find out the bank).  I told them I couldn’t give that out.  They then said there had also been an $1100 transfer from my debit card to another country and they need my debit card number so they could refund me the money.  I told them I would not give out my debit card number.  I also advised them that I was now looking at my accounts on-line and I did not see any activity and also I had not received a single transaction email as I normally would. They kept insisting so I said, well give me the number for Visa Security and I will call back.  They said so you don’t want the money refunded and hung up.  I then called Visa Security and had a chat with them and they said that it was a scam and I had not been compromised.  If I hadn’t been half asleep, I wouldn’t have responded at all and I noticed when I googled the 403-277-0858 number that they often call people early.  It was a reminder for me never to talk to these people.  In the past I have had real Visa security call me with real fraud going on, but if I ever get another call, real or not, I will simply disengage and call the number on the back of my card. A good reminder for all of us.

Nice try JOHN...... He said he was calling from the Visa Fraud department. Excellent... if it is such a fraud, then he knows the number. I told him to cancel the card and hung up.

Just received a call at 7am that a $400 dollar charge was charged to my card on ebay. When I inquire about the information it would not have been possible.  In any case I checked my account and in turn called my bank. The heart can be deceitful and desperately wicked above all things. Do not trust these callers. Some folks just intend to scam others for a living.
