It is Portfolio Recovery, a collector. They have a million different phone numbers.

They just called me, this is a new # for them, asked for me by name, and when I said yes, they hung up.
They have a big surprise coming, I'm suing them, the bill they are trying to collect isn't even on my credit report and they admit they know that. DUH! They also have taken to calling me twice a day and I have recorded every call since august.

Received a call from this number. Did not answer and no message was left.

Calls, leaves no messages, when answered no one there, when calls returned you get someone who does not speak English well and does not understand most ot the conversation. Explained that the bill they are trying to collect was settled in court over 7 years ago and that the statue of limitations here has expired and now allows me to sue them, which I am doing!

Portfolio Recovery Co (PRC)  --- they buy old debts from other companies, so that you might actually pay the same bill over and over.  They dont do any research. In my case, it's not my debt but an old debt for the SISTER or my former rommate, and it was paid-off!!!!

Way to go!!

4049212537 called me and wants to speak to someone that apparently has a name that sounds close to mine. I dont know who or what they want but they say they will have it remove my number from there calling list. I have had this same thing happen a lot lately. They wont give me any detail of who they are or what they want.

they are calling me. Can you tell me where I can get info on the statue of limitations, and other restrictions.  Thanks, live in Ohio

Good for you! I hope you win the lawsuit and at least get some sort of compensation for their harrassment. Good luck.

This is my phone they are asking for someone who is not on this number I am sick of them!!!!

calling for a bill over 11 years old. not a good way to do business. being slick!

They get your number by running credit reports, purchases online and social networks. They called me so much trying to collect a debt that is more than 10 years old. I had to change my number and it has been the best week of my life. I will never purchase anything online again and give my correct phone number for the purchase because these bottom feeders will get my number again somehow!!!!

they will keep calling you even though you tell them its not you....

Deborah:  I just registered my phone number with www.donotcall.gov.  Then, when I get a call from Portfolio Recovery, I go back on the website, www.donotcall.gov, and file a complaint against Portfolio Recovery.  Hope this works for you, too!  Have a great day!

I have no idea why this company is calling me, I have no outstanding bad debts.

They now have this number's caller id as a Cidney Goodall.  There has to be something illegal with that for sure.  They are representing the number as in individual.  My experience same as the rest of the comments.

They called twice. When I answered, they hung up. I called them. Went through the whole list about "any information gained can be used to collect a debt." They asked for 5 people with my same last name. No one here by those names!!!! Especially "Shantay!"

just got a call from this number, the woman asked for my full name, i told them no one by that name lives here...yes i owe and a great deal of debts, but one at a time can i pay, in my case? they are right...however they called me over and over and never left any messages so i might be taken to court or make a deal in the future, disabled i am below the proverty line, infact i just paid off 3-4 grand to mildland/zwicker and associates 50.00 per month took me 6 years!

looks like they just might due that then, i am not going to answer the phone they will have to take me to court or make a reasonable offer, thanks for letting pple know this.

IF YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE THE NUMBER DON'T ANSWER IT...........IF THEY WANT TO CONTINUE TO SPEND MONEY ON CALLING ME THAT IS THEIR PROBLEM BUT I WILL NOT ANSWER THEIR CALLS.......................
