Seeking call back on "uncollected debt"

The scammers are back!  The phone said "accessline" but this is really a new number for Portfolio Recovery, a company that uses illegal tactics to collect non-existant debt.

Yes it is Portfolio Recovery looking for another victim to suck blood from. Hang up on these losers!

Thanks for your reply, get the same calls and then they keep changing their number or use 0 unknown. I do not know how to stop these calls but I am going to report them. Getting very annoyed especially when they let the phone ring 15-20 times before hanging up.

Yeah, they have refused multiple requests to prove they own the debt by sending me info in the mail, and they say "No, just go to our website." Eff that. My cell has a feature that "rejects" the call so it will not ring. It will still show a call came in, but if they don't want to leave a voice mail -- oh well!

have called almost everyday they even called my husband a couple of time dont know how they got his number. uncalled for never leave a message so its not to important right.

They call me daily. I just don't answer the phone.

these people claim to be debt collectors - I answered once. I get at least 5 - 6 calls a day. I no longer answer the phone since I know the harrassment they want to 'provide'. Sure wish I knew how to put a stop to this!

Portfolio Recovery - Atlanta, GA - They have at last count 125 Numbers they call from!!! They call my CELL which I NEVER gave to any business, only friends and family...not connected to any debt company...They have called my CELL like 36 times from 4 different states in the last 33 approx days!!!  Sooo, if a collection agency calls your cell; Check NACA ONLINE for an attorney to SUE!!!! because; "Congress passed the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”), 47 U.S.C. §227, to curtail the use of automated dialers and prerecorded messages to cell phones without the permission of the consumer." and "On May 11, 2012...Plaintiffs sued a debt collector attempting to collect a telephone bill from a third party. Plaintiffs sued Defendant for Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per telephone call and One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) per telephone call if willful. !!!! ....the 7th Circuit recognized that Plaintiffs are entitled to protection under the TCPA as they were the “called party” under the meaning of the TCPA.
ALSO, since there are free phone search companies ONLINE (I found 4) that can be accessed by anyone...that show clearly in the FREE AREA that a phone number is from a CELL...And if they pay a small monthly fee can see who the CELL Number belongs to...I'D CALL IT WILLFUL!!!! I'm giving that info to my Attorney! SUE THEM!!!!! THAT'S WHAT I'M DOING!!!

They called from another number at 7:30 am.  Now from this number at 5:24 pm.  They do not talk nor leave messages.  No one at home has accounts in default.  Has to be annoying scam.  I only answer 'cause I'm expecting work calls and it is really annoying and frustrating.

I typically use the *60 to block numbers, but interestingly these numbers come up on that service as "not valid"- "please re enter the number" for portfolio's numbers. so looking for another way to block their numbers now

I want these people to stop calling my house all times of day and night! I am very fed up with the annoyance, if it is a debt collector they have the wrong number and person. Please delete my number from your file. Thank you!!!!

I just called Portfolio Recovery and explained to that the person that they are calling on my home phone for does not live there.We  have been willing to give him their messages.  He has chosen not to return their calls.  We no longer want to continue to pass on their messages.  He does not have a home phone.  The person was argumentive and rude.  Something really needs to be done to stop these people from calling they are not professional and so like a scam operation.

If you want the phone calls to stop advise them that they are no longer to contact you at that phone number.  Additionally if you want all phone contact to stop advise them that they can only correspond with you in writing.  (These are protections setup in the Fair Debt Collections Protection Act.  If they do not comply and continue to contact you at that number, the company is then liable for damages in a civil lawsuit.  Make sure to get the name of operator and ask them if the call is being recorded so that you can reference in a legal complaint should they fail to comply.) Be sure to not give them a physical address, only a PO Box.  It is very typical for a company such as this to try and serve you notice for lawsuit if provided physical address of residence and if you own the residence they will try and place a lien on property to collect the debt.
