Recording: "Please press 1 to update your free Google 411 listing."

SCAM! That's all they said, except "Press 1 now." when I did nothing, but this called ID is a spoofed number.

This scam works this way. They want to record you saying "Yes" -- to anything -- so they can cram a fee onto your phone bill which they hope that small business people don't notice. Once you click through to a person, the recording is going on and while nothing THEY say may end up in the final recording, somehow they will get you to answer something in the affirmative (even if it's "do you want us to remove you from our calling list?"). Then they will start billing you, and when you complain, they'll present the phone company with a recording of you saying "yes" that you want the service.

No option to opt out, kept repeating recorded message, "If you want to update your Google profile, press 1 now".  I am so sick and tired of these calls.  What is the "Do Not Call List" for?  Seems like I have been getting many more solicitations since I signed up than before.  Why can't congress do something useful like shutting down these solicitors, rather than just increase taxes and restrictions on legitimate business.

I ignored the call and then called right back. It rang once and then I heard this: "The number you have reached is not in service. This is a recording." It was not a "professional" sounding message like one would hear from the likes of AT&T or Verizon. Likely a spoofed number by a scammer.

Just got a call from "them" today.  I received a similar message.  When I receive an automatic response, I make it a point to remain silent.  Good to know this # isn't associated with Google since I do have an account with them.

I received a call from 405-293-8500 - automated message said, "We want to update your Google 411 information - press #1.  I did and got a man by the name of Donald King on the line.  I told him I would need to call him back AFTER I verified his phone number and company.  He gave me a new number to call - 888-416-0273 x 112.  

I hung up and checked out both numbers on the website - Reverse Phone Detective.  Both numbers came up as, "Phone number not found or invalid. Please search again".  I called Donald King back and told him I was going to turn him in for making fraudulent claims.  Then I hung up the phone.  

BEWARE - This smells like a scam - you know if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck ........

If 29prime had any software or database engineers they would be able to stop calling, yes? If the the company does what it says it can do, they have software / database engineers. Nope. They have salespeople, stupid ones. No amount of complaint seems to work.

I've been getting these for a while. It's always the same message:

Not sure if they keep coming from this number, but today was the day I got tired enough to check the number. Good to know it's not google. Are there any steps that can be taken about this?

Your Local Merchant and 29prime are connected if not the same. Maybe they changed their name? "You will no longer receive calls from "Your Local Merchant"  They are pretty easy to contact, (http://www.29prime.com/) but I it is pretty clear you have to speak to a supervisor (be ready to stay on hold!) or better for any resolution.

I'm getting harassed by these guys too. We can harass them back by calling them and letting them know how it feels: 888-416-0273

Extensions seem to start at 100 or 110.

Yes, just another scammer wanting to take your money.  As someone who works for a top SEO company, it irks me that these goofs giving the industry a bad name by their scummy and deceitful methods.  Unfortunately there's not much you can do to these jerks since they hide behind fake numbers.

I received a call from this number today but did not answer it.  I immediately called the number back and got the "unprofessional" recording described earlier telling me that the number was not in service.  Definitely some time of scam.  I've been receiving a lot of spam contact from a firm trying to offer SEO services or to get my number listed in Goog411.  As a side note, my web site is already ranked number 1 in Google as has been for nearly 5 years.

My business contact has been listed on Google for nearly as long.

Aside from all of this, anyone offering services related to Goog411 is a scam.  Google officially discontinued the service on November 12, 2010.

Have received numerous calls from this number to my cell phone.  I finally have worked out a method of diverting these repeat callers.  I enter their number as a contact, then i set the ring to no ring so it will go to missed call.  In the missed call settings I set it to no ring.  Now when they call back it never rings and is placed in missed calls log.

Of course this does not take care of any new callers but it gets rid of the repeaters.

The other thing I do is not answer any calls out of my area that I do not know.  If it is a legit call they will leave a message.

Called the 888-416-0273 x110 as previous post suggested. Spoke with a woman named "Chi Vu" who claims to be a recruiter.  She offered to handle taking my number off their list.  I am not optimistic that this will happen as I have tried many times to get off their list to no avail.

The people are illegally spoofing the phone system to tell you they are calling from 405-293-8500.

The company doing this is "29Prime" (www.29prime.com). Their real phone number is 949-777-6616, and they are located in Orange County. When they call with their Robot, it says they are Google's 411 service calling to help you with your website. In reality they are selling fake SEO (Search Engine Optimization) services.

When they call, if you hang on and get attached to an attendant, they will try to sell you. Tell her you can't hear her and offer to call her back. Then she'll give you the company's real phone number to call her on (949-777-6616 or their toll free 888-416-0273). They have ads on Craigslist trying to hire phone operators to cheat people.

If you want to shut them down, report them to the FCC and they'll be fined $10,000 for each call they make ... since telemarketing call are against the law in the US.  Just go to

and file a complaint. It won't take you but 5 minutes, and it'll cost them $10,000, LOL

I just received a call from this number on January 31st, 2011 at 3:11 PM- I can't make that up. I tried calling them back, and couldn't talk with anybody. Apparently, the number got disconnected within 30 seconds of them calling me.

Apparently, as said in posts previous to mine, this is Google, on behalf of GOOG411. I have been receiving calls like this almost daily from people and companies trying to solicit crap, like service on Google for my company that I don't own, or from disconnected numbers.

I have tried putting my phone number on the national do not call registry at http://www.donotcall.org but that doesn't seem to work. I still receive phone calls from soliciters after more than two years, and don't have the money to hire a lawyer.

What should I do? How do I take care of this? What can I do to get these calls to stop? I have searched other numbers on Google, but can’t seem to get an answer. I don’t know what to do anymore.

Please, I want somebody to let me know via YouTube. My username is IAmTheEnd1000. If you Google search it exactly how I typed it, you will find my YouTube channel. I am not trying to do this to get subscribers to my channel. I am doing this because this is the easiest way for me to get in contact with people who have had the same problem as I am having with these callers.

Please- somebody message me. Tell me what I can do, because these people hang up before I can tell them that I do not want to be on their calling list. Half of the time, when I call these numbers back, I can’t reach anybody because the number suddenly became “Out of Service”… The rest of the time, it is either a toll free number or an out-of-state number.
