This number just called me wanting to know if i wanted to lower my interest rate on my credit card. I do not have a credit card!  When I waited for an operator and she finally answered I told her i didnt have a credit card she abruptly hung up.

I'm in the same boat as miller. Except, I didn't even get a chance to tell them I don't have a credit card. It was very loud in the background and I couldn't here what she was saying. So I said as much, and then asked what institution was I talking to. The line went still, then I heard the noise in the background again and the service representative hung up without a word.

I think it is a scam.  I think that she put the phone on mute and was consulting somebody, got instructions not to answer my question, and hung up.

my wife received a call from this lady on her cell phone, and my wife don't have a credit card.

Got 2nd call in 3 days - lower your credit scam.

I got a call today from these people -- they left a message. It was to my cell phone and was an automated message. The first half of the message was completely cut off. They remaining part was only about press this number for such-and-such... I didn't recognize the number so I decided to google it and found all these stories today. Definitely some sort of scam.

Same as above. Recorded messages saying contact them about lowerng interest rate for credit card and that there was nothing wrong with my account. I don't have an account with them so I hung up. I don't know why today (Mon 2-28-2011) suddenly, I'm getting spammed so much.

It's a scam. I pressed 1 (or whatever) to speak to an operator.
"do you have any credit card debt?"
"yes"
"how much?"
"before I discuss my finances, please tell me who I'm talking to."
"click"

When they call back, im going to waste a whole bunch of their time and hang up on them to see how they like it this time. . . sooo pissed that they wont accept incoming calls

They didn't leave me a message but they did call me at 12:50 on a Thursday to my cell phone!

Common theme here is NO Credit cards, They must have a bad phone list.

Hard to sell/scam someone that has chosen not to have credit cards.

Robo calls to known cell phones for commercial purposes is illegal, and that what these folks are doing in many cases (at least for me).

I played along with their scam (without giving any personal information) and found out that they are called Consumer Credit Group and their toll-free phone number is 1-888-674-6834.

The Better Business Bureau gives them an "F" rating, so beware doing any business with them:
