This sounds like a SCAM call. Lots of people getting calls from this number. Caller says different things to different householders: free energy audit, electric bill is not paid, insurance, auto warranty, you have zero credit, etc. Don't pick up the phone. Be careful with phone number 305-442-8770 as well.

Received a call from 407-205-1391. I am in that area code and the phone system CID said the number was 1-407, etc. meaning it was long distance. AT&T also said "Out of Area," which means they spoofed their caller ID, using VOIP or something, so the real phone number doesn't show. They can't call from "out of area" when they are within the 407 local calling area.

They wanted to sell me a energy inspection, or provide capital, or some credit or credit card rubbish. I've seen them before.

    REALLY!?!?

This number (407)205-1391 has called our home continually. They tell me it is in reference to my utility bills going up. ETC ETC Each time I have answered it (3 times) I have asked to be put on a do not call list etc yet they still continue to call. This morning I answered the phone (without checking ID) and guess who! I told the gentleman "Mathew" that I wanted to be put on the do not call list and his reply was "that list didn't apply to them as they weren't soliciting me to purchase anything but performing an energy audit." Ok maybe they have found a way to get around the do not call list...but I "gently" tried to explain we had no interest in this service (which I have told them the previous 3 times) he refused to back down...when he asked to "speak to the man of the house" because he wasn't getting anywhere with me...I lost it!

Called saying in regards to our energy bill going up, they're doing free inspections. She actually said my address and that made me worry. As soon as I asked her what company she's calling from she hung up on me. [***]. There's a lot of people who may fall victim to them, I hope they're caught soon.

Got a call from them. It hung up when I answered. I returned the call and it just says that I have 0 credit, and then hangs up on me.
    • Caller: I would love to know

Just so that all will know:  The DO NOT CALL registry prohibits anyone from calling offering goods or services. Includes sellers who are paid to provide, offer to provide, or arrange to provide goods or services to consumers.  Companies that are exempt from the Do Not Call List are those that are Political Organizations, Charities, Telephone Surveyors, and Companies that you have an existing relationship with.
However, there are exceptions to these exceptions:
Telephone surveyors:  If they are calling for the sole purpose of taking a survey, then they are covered.  However, if they purport to take a survey, but are really offering to sell goods or services, then they are prohibited from calling.  Regardless though, you can ask to be put on their Do Not Call List, and they HAVE to comply with your request.  If they call again, they can be fined up to $16,000.
Charities:  Calls have to be from the actual charity.  If a third party telemarketer is calling on the charity's behalf, and you ask to be put on their do not call list, but they persist, then they can be fined up to $16,000.
Companies that you have an existing relationship with: These encompass those companies from whom you purchased something in the past.  By purchasing something, they have the right to call you up to 18 months after your last purchase or payment UNLESS you ask them not to call.  Even if you only submitted an application or inquired into a product, they have a right then to call up to 3 months, unless you ask to be placed on their list.  If any of these companies keep calling, they can be fined up to $16,000.
Remember: ALL companies have to comply with a request to be placed on their DO NOT CALL List.  Keep a record of when you make the request, then report them.  You may also report companies that call and leave recorded messages.

Thus, the person who was calling purportedly performing an energy audit would be prohibited from calling because he is offering a SERVICE.  An audit is a service.  It is an energy assessment of how much energy your home uses and evaluate what you can do to save money. If he was from a company that you supposedly deal with, such as an energy company, then you can ask him not to call and he has to respect your request. Otherwise, they can be fined up to $16,000.
