left a msg... says from Verizon but a local phone # so I don't know if another scam?

408-337-3769 is a real Verizon Wireless number. Recorded message says your payment is late.

I talked to the 1-866 verizon toll free number to ask whether they call from local numbers. They said they don't and this is definitely a scam to steal your info, don't listen to the other comment. Do not give out your info!

this number and all numbers including 408 337 90** are all scams. they all have the same number and the last 2 numbers can be allll different. they called me 7x today withing 4 hours. and when i try to call the number back it just rings and rings. no recordings, nothing. they said they were from the IRS, the government, student loans.. who knows what they will say next. do not give them your credit card numbers. i have researched this number for about an hour and they have tried to scam many others through intimidation. im sure they have scammed a lot of people, but lets get this information out there and help our fellow americans and their hard earned $ ! spread the word! and they will try to ask you a question that results you in giving them an answer of "yes"   what ever you do, do not say yes. through my research they are recording people saying yes and through new technology they can use your voice and splice it somehow to steal from you. I dont know how thats possible but it is. Look up the Dr. Phil episode he gives so much more information and he explains it a lot better than i can. They are putting microsoft block ups on your computers, including mine. the microsoft pop up will not let you close it out and it says you may have a serious virus and to call this number asap. then they ask for your password and they gain control over your mouse on your screen! how do i know? it happened to me! they tried asking me for large amounts of money and they will fix my "virus" for $250 - $500. we hung up turned the computer off and that same night the Dr. Phil show was warning about the same scam that happened to me that day. Thank god we just bought the computer and we had no personal or financial info in it yet.. so nothing happened. We returned the computer. Im spending my time typing all of this because i dont want to see other innocent people get scammed. We work hard here in america!

I don't have Verizon so it's probably a scam. They're called twice and not left a message either time.
