Got a voice mail from "Diana" at Bankers Life Insurance in Baltimore regarding a job interview which I never applied for. That her manager saw my resume online, which I posted since I am job searching. I researched it online, the "interview" is a presentation to several people at once to recruit agents to sell insurance to senior citizens on commission. This phone # is probably one of their personal cell phone #'s.

I received a similar message from this phone number.  Sounds like a scam.

Received this same message from a Taylor.  Did not call them back.

I believe this is a legitimate call. I get a lot of scam calls from "Rachel from cardholder services" or "life alert for seniors" and this didn't fit the pattern. When I answered this call there was a live female who identified herself as Taylor from Bankers Life; this wasn't robo-dialed (most robo calls have been illegal since 2009). The caller addressed me by name and provided a physical address for an interview. The area code and exchange are consistent with where I am located and where the caller indicated she was located. She also sent a follow-up email, with a legitimate domain as the return address. My résumé is on job board sites, including Monster and Career Builder. I believe they are recruiting for sales staff because there is probably a certain amount of turnover, since sales jobs like this are usually based mostly or entirely on commission, and salesmen must be licensed with their Life & Health and probably some other licenses. This caller did not try to obtain credit card or other financial or banking information or ask inappropriate questions.

I believe this is legitimate.

I received a call from Diana today.  I usually investigate a phone call or email of this nature.  I did not respond.

Received a call about a job offer from Diana, that I never applied to. Yep scam.

You guys need to understand that if you put your PHONE NUMBER on a career search engine BAD COMPANIES will give you a call as well. You don't always have to have applied to a job to get a call. It never hurts to READ the stuff monster and careerbuilder tell you before you upload your resume. It's clear as day that your resume goes into an special search engine where anybody who pays to search that resume directory can find your information. Hence the whole "do you want your resume visible" thing.

Stop assuming everything is a scam... You're just ignorant.

Thanks for the info.  There is always someone trying to scam you when you are trying to be legitimate.  I got same message this morning. Why i really HATE the online crap.

Headhunter, got my info from Monster. Has nothing to o with my field of expertise.

Its legitimate, AFLAC does the same thing to get you into the presentations

Thanks for the info. This is the first time that I am looking for a job in a very long time! I've never had to have a resume before. I am 50 years old. A friend told me to go to monster to create a resume. As you mentioned the visible thing, if it's not visible how would anybody see it!? It sure is different looking for a job nowadays!

I received the same call and yes I agree it's most likely because my resume is on an online job posting site. I did not apply to their company.

What describes the call and company as bad?

Vague voicemail from 'Kristin at Bankers' about how her manager is *very* interested in meeting after seeing my resume on Monster.  My field is extremely niche but apparently selling life insurance and real estate are good for everyone since I've gotta a ton of calls and email from folks like this...
(Also legit calls for my industry...  but just as many 'sales' calls)

From Shannelle, same ploy as above. She did say she was a recruiter wanting to set up an interview. After all these years they are still at it.

I hate looking for jobs online.  I do not answer number that I do not know.  If important whomever calling can leave a message.  I been screwed once by scammer claiming to be working for merrit Lynch.  NO MORE am I going to be screwed again by scammer on jobs.
