who called this number, and why????

Someone from this number keeps calling and hanging up.  I am about ready to notify the telephone company.

Claimed to be the "Local Chimney Cleaning Company" and asked how I heat the house. When I asked for the company name, she said "Have a nice day" and hung up.

I know no one @ the above # - friend tried returning call but recording said "it is not a working #", strange!

I got the same thing as MomMom. First call was a guy, next was a woman.

Told them that I don't have a chimney twice already, and they next ask if I have gas heat. after that, it's the same as above.

VERY suspicious of this supposed business. No name comes up on caller ID, and no name of business? I smell a scam. BEWARE!!!!!

It doesn't sound like a real phone company recording of a disconnected number. I'm going to report it. Funny thing, when i answered it, i was watching a ghost hunting reality show loudly and the heard the freaky parts.

Three other phone numbers called me today and all I can't reach back because they aren't in service.

1-800-257-2969. It's Verizon unlawful call hotline. This number belongs to Verizon and they should be able to deal with this.
I got this call after 7 pm. I.heard what sounded to be children and teenagers in the background. This doesn't sound like they are trying to sell you on anything, but they are looking to see if you are home. I'm concerned.

the person saying to call 1-800-257-2969 is wrong -- you only call that number if YOU yourself have a Verizon phone account. I do not; I havedigital voice thru comcast, and when i just called that 1-800 number, Verizon told me that I need to report this highly suspicious call to my provider (comcast),who will trace it and/or report it to the authorities. FYI-

This number calls everyday and I never answer. I called it back once and it did not connect; just went to dial tone.
