Hey Chelsea, I got a call from this number this AM. I called it back hours later & someone answered the phone with an "hello"? Do you owe any credit cards? I'm wondering if it was a credit company trying to collect money or something.......

I received a fund raising call from this number that was framed in what I perceived to be an intimidating manner.  The individual identified himself as being with the Maryland Police, told me that the call was being recorded 'for my protection.'  Then proceeded to inform me of a mailing to come to my home soon - and whether he could 'count on my support.'

Received call from this number 2/13 Sunday.
Answering machine picked up - woman kept saying hello. hello. Just that.

I  have been receiving phone calls from this number almost every day for the past 2 weeks.  Sometimes they hang up when they answer and other times they will ask for me or my husband.

I received a call from this number @ 9:56 a.m. on 2/19/2011.  Caller ID said it was coming from Elkridge, MD.  Reverse Lookup was of no use.  No message left, didn't call it back.

This is a fundarising call. Caller ID says UNAVAILABLE, but I did a reverse lookup

I received a call from this number 3/5 and all I heard was breathing. Yuck!

I got a call from this number today and the machine picked up.  I heard breathing and some noise and then they hung up.

Got a call from this number. Caller ID says Elkridge, MD. No message.

I got this call this a.m. but when I call back there is no answer

Which is why I never give over the phone... NEVER.  Do you hear that.  Stop wasting my time calling and hanging up.  Use your time working like decent people do to earn a living.

Received a call from 240-207-6104 and the name on the caller ID was the same as the actual phone number. The guy who answered said he is with the FOP.

Notice the scam? What does FOP actually stand for? Sure, we automatically assume "Fraternal Order of Police" but the caller doesn't make this clear. He also wanted me to agree to having the call recorded "for my protection." Yeah, right. Am I in danger?

So I received another call from 410-705-6172 but didn't answer and then checked voicemail. And we all know that when someone gets put into voicemail, the system tells the caller to leave a message along with the BEEP to let you know when to talk. The idiot said hello a couple of times then hung up. Now I have to waste my time having to go in and delete the message.

Next, I called the phone company to see if they handle fraudulant activity and was told to call the Better Business Bureau. So I said "why on Earth do you think they are going to be able to help me?" The support person actually said she didn't know they could help. Real genius thinking here, geez.

Also, there may be a way for these guys to spoof phone numbers and the probably have a lot of them to play  with. Any ideas on what to do?

I got a call from this number just a few minutes ago.  It was a male voice asking for some name I didnt recognize or understand.  I said "You have the wrong number" and he replied back to me, "ok is the Mayor in?"

I said, "WHO?" and he just hung up.

Weirdo.

Same thing for me. A male voice asking for a name I didn't recognize and I said "you have the wrong number." He then asked me if I was the owner of the house and I asked "why do you need to know?" so he said "OK, I'll call back later and hung up.

Scam, I get the weird breathing sometimes. We must be on a list. I was asked if I want to be put on a 'do not call list". I was also asked to donate for the police.

This is illegal behavior but there doesn't seem to be anything you can do about it but share your experience with others here. I called the FTC and the State Attorney General, and Verizon. It is amazing how useless people can be.

The FTC exists to prevent consumer fraud. What a joke. They were completely uninterested.

I also called the Holy Land Spiritual Church Police Fire Crimeline (The Badge Fraud Tip Reporting Hotline 877-FRAUD-97) and all I get is dumped into voicemail. Can someone at Holy Land just be there and pick up the phone for a change? I don't believe they can do anything to help because they already know about this and IT'S STILL HAPPENING.

You would think one phone call to the right place could get this insect shut down. Forget it.

I received yet another call for 410-705-6172 today same as the one on July 12, which I wrote about above.  He goes onto my message box to only say "Hello... hello...".   Honestly, some people have some real issues.  I  need to report this as harassment.  It is happening too often.
