- Lance24 Jun 11. #412-282-1421. Portfolio Recover Associates LLC. Called about Capitol One credit card that was written off as a bad debt in1993. IRS rules prevent companies from collecting on write offs due to reductions from company taxes. And I also had my bankruptcy on this old debt too and they are still trying to collect from.
So I wrote two letters, one to my state attorney generals office and the second to their state attorney's generals office of their state reporting this activity from both Porfolis Recovery Asscociates and the Capitol One explaining the statues of limitations and bankruptcies and how Porfolios harassments on phone and by mail.
This is also wire fraud and mail fraud.
I don't hear from these guys any more.
Do no't try to deal or make threats towards these collection agencies it will only raise your blood pressure.- Caller: Portfolios Recovery Associates LLC

- GOLD BUGEvery time these low lifes call I'm either in the process of buying more gold, silver or at the closing table buying more farm land. How is they know to call me at the most inconvenient times? I have attained much wealth and it didn't happen wasting my time taking a survey of my favorite investments over the phone. There should be a law against people trying to sell crap on the phone!
- Caller: DONT KNOW

- jz| 3 repliesI code them with a variant ring than my 'norm' & let all unknown numbers go to voice mail. I then check them out here.
They're persistent, rude (if you do talk to them) & use auto-dialers/skip-trace methods to locate you thru any means available - meaning bosses, family members, etc. No point dealing with them unless you can afford to pay your old debt. Statutes of limitations only apply to taking you to court; they can always try to collect a debt, no matter how old. Basically they try to wear you down, and from the looks of it, they have a good record of doing it.
If you just got a number that they are calling, I don't know how you can stop them from calling unless you take it up with your State AG.

- Shannon| 1 replyThey called me today from 412-282-1421 regarding a debt for over $4000 from a Discover Card from 1997. Well, I have never had a Discover Card. They wanted my date of birth and SS# to file an inquiry and complaint about them. Wouldn't give me any file number, account number, or any information on my account to call them back with. They also had an address I never lived at. This is a complete scam.

- Jeff| 1 replyI settled my debt in July of 09 from a credit card that my sister-in-law went crazy on with out me or my wife's knowledge. We begged the the credit card Company CITI to lower the interest rate which they jacked up to 33%. They would not so we had know choice but to complete a settlement with a law office out of New York. We payed our portion off and in the process my wife wrote on the back of the check by cashing this check all debts are paid in full. We also received a letter from the law office stating that all debts are paid in full. We had not heard anything from any body until March of this year. My wife and I were caring for my father who was dying of Cancer. They tried to tell me I had made a payment in Sept. of 2010. This is not true I told them cause I had cleared this up in June of 2009. So now there making up phony payments that I made. They called me in may and told me I owed 17,00 dollars plus and then in June they told me I owed 18,000 and some change. I then told them it was 17 g's last month and the lady said that's the interest compounding. The also tried to tell me that this was another credit card account. I asked them to mail me a copy of the bill but they never have. I believe this law office sold my old debt after I had payed it off to get a quick buck.

- SendhtebilltoDC replies to Greta KingYou know Portfolio has called from various numbers, never leaving a message and if they do its illegal. (period) already sued someone else over that. This is a bill for cell phone for Verizon - NEVER HAD Verizon EVER. They are full of CRAP and its really old. I also think the reporting companies need to get in check too because take companies word for things. The credit system in America is whacked.
- ACDWoman called and asked for my husband. I said he is not available, who is calling? She replied, Can I have a number to reach him? I asked again who is calling? She mumbled her name and I asked again, Who is calling? The woman replied "I told you my name" very rudely. Click.

- MichelleI also started receiving calls recently from 412-282-1421. I refuse to speak with them. I haven't had a credit card in over 10 years, so if they're calling on that, good luck to them. Statutes run out,
and all the credits from 10 years ago was settled. I cannot imagine anything else they would be calling about, but I will not even speak with them. After reading this here, I know they must be trying something from a minimum of 10 years ago!! Good luck to them.- Caller: Portfolio Recovery
- monitorlizardAny number I don't recognize, I just hit the reject call button while it's still ringing.
- StacyI got a call from Portfolio Recovery with this number and a few others. They seem to call me every day between 11 am- 3 pm. I had a Capital One card 8 years ago that was written off. They have even asked for me with my first name like they are an old friend. I hung up on them or don't answer. They are a bunch of low life scum bags!!
