I get a call a day from this outfit that wants me to switch from Duquesne Power. The kicker is that I am not a Duquesne Power customer. If I follow the prompts I get an associate on the phone and when I ask to be put on their Do Not Call List he hangs up. My problem is that if I call the number I get a message that the number is not in service or disconnected. These numbers also solicit the same scam: 412-336-5231, 412-213-9095, 412-355-6262, 412-775-3939, 412-744-2424.

Got calls from 412-336-5231, 412-213-9095, and 412-775-3939.  Got the same result Major Jeep did when I called back.

Major Jeep, thanks for the info on this number.  So far I had two calls from this number with the 2nd call just coming through seconds ago.  That prompted me to Google it again.  The first time, earlier this week, I too called this number back and got a women operator's voice that said, "The number you have reached is not in service.  This is a recording"  Then if you don't disconnect, it disconnects on you with a busy signal   "Hmmmm" I thought to myself, "I just got a call from it so it must not be disconnected and IS still in service."  Then a Grinch's evil grin spread slowly across my face as I realized what they're doing.  Everyone has a voice mail box, they're just being creative with theirs.  They called my cell phone which I don't give out to too many people, so only people I know call it (or are supposed to).  I found online a site that has all the old MaBell telephone operator recordings.  I found the one I wanted and then played it and recorded it to my voice mail.  You know the one, it makes an ear piercing error sound followed by, "We're sorry, your call did not go through.  Will you please try your call again."  Then I emailed or called everyone that has my cell phone number and told them about my unique answering message, and to not be fooled by it and leave a message after it.  They all loved it and keep calling it to hear the recording.  Well, just now was the first time this number called to hear that.  I'll see if they continue to call or if that worked!  Bwahahahaha!

1st call I just hung up on the robo voice

2nd call I pressed 5 to talk to someone and told them to remove my number from their list.

3rd call I just hung up

4th call I pressed 5 again to speak to someone & asked to be removed AGAIN

5th call I pressed 5 to speak to someone and straight out asked what was this company's name, then was disconnected (most likely from a manager listening in)

I called back and the number was not in service, so they are using the run-a-round to get through caller ID.

Legitimate companies will respect the law.  If you're on the Do Not Call list and some telemarketer is STILL calling, what does that tell you about the legitimacy of that telemarketer?  BUYER BEWARE.  

Scammers don't care about the D.N.C. they same way bank robbers don't care about Federal laws regarding bank robbery.

If you're on the DNC and some telemarketer calls, DON'T TALK TO THEM!  They are most likely CROOKS!

That's what the DNC does for you.  It lets you know when crooks are calling.

I receive calls from this number on my company cell phone. My company cell phone is for COMPANY business.
