- GemsCaller spoke very poor English, told me there was a problem with my Microsoft based computer. It's a SCAM!!
- NormScam. Do not give any information to these people. Hang up immediately. Microsoft will NEVER call you nor do they authorize anyone to call on their behalf concerning products or services.
- RRLisa from Tech services. Had a heavy accent. I'm sure I have a problem with my computer but I told her to get a life and hung up. I'm sure their phone number was probably spoofed.
- Caller: Braddock PA
- WarningThere are people in Pakistan who resent that we took out Osama Bin Laden in their country (never mind that Pakistan was protecting him). Some of these people likely work for the Pakistani Intelligence Agency. They have created robo scams. Sometimes they will call pretending to represent Microsoft and tell you a server has detected viruses on your computer and they will fix it for a fee if you let them have access to your computer. They may actually do it but they are after Personal Identifiable Information (PII). You will then get calls from people pretending to work for credit card fraud protection, or posing as a financial agency that can lower your credit card interest rates. Sometimes they will call pretending to help you straighten out college loan problems, or as a medical bill collection agency trying to clear up medical bills. Do not give them anything. Their goal is financial theft. Eventually they will raid your bank accounts. You will usually be able to recognize them because they will have a Pakistani or Indian accent. Do not tell them anything.
