Got a call today 10/7/14 from this number, 415-506-1282 on my cell with an automated message claiming to be the IRS and I need to call this number back ASAP to avoid any pending issues or risk having the authorities contacting me.  

I heard that there has been an IRS scam that has been going on and understand that the "Real" IRS never calls you and only contact you via mail.  So I hung up as soon as I got the call but I have received the 3 calls throughout the day.  

8 October 2014:  My answering machine had two calls.  Both supposedly from the IRS; from an agent by the name of Julie Smith.  Voice was machine based.  The number to call back on immediately was 415-506-1282.  I was told to not ignore the message, and to have a nice day.

Didn't return the call after checking it out online.

This seems like nothing more than a scam as we have had several clients call in with messages from 'John Smith' or 'Jane Jones' claiming that they're under a lawsuit for one thing or another.

The IRS will NEVER call you before sending out certified mail to your address.

Do NOT give out information and do NOT give them any sort of credit card number or bank number.

2 messages in 2 days stating...call this number immediately before further action is required.  Gave name as Julie Smith with Internal Revenue Service at 415-506-1282.  The recorded voice does not state who message is for.  On line information very helpful!  Definitely a scam!

Julie Smith from the IRS left me two messages saying I needed to contact her immediately. When I called back from my police department, it rings once then hangs up. IRS will NEVER call you for info. This is a scam.

I received a call from Julie Smith,  saying I need to call immediately.. From IRS.   I called  back later, got a man who didn't speak clearly, wanted my name and address.. Which I stupidly gave.   He wanted more information which I refused to give.   He finally hung up on me.   I'm sure this was a scam.

This is a scam. I called the IRS at their real number 800-829-1040 and let them know. The IRS said that is not one of their numbers and to call the IRS Scam Line at 800-366-4484 to report it.

I got a phone msg from Julie Smith. I called back and spoke with a David Jackson - both claiming to be IRS "officers" - message was automated and David Jackson has an accent so thick I could barely understand him. Said I owed thousands of dollars in back taxes.  Scam!

2nd day 4th call (415-506-1282) from the lovely Julie Smith from the IRS stating that I needed to contact her immediately.  The IRS will NEVER contact you this way (neighbor is IRS agent).  Only by mail -

same thing. two calls warning of irs penalties.

My wife was called 2 rays in a row, first day they didnt ask for anyone , just claimed the person who owned the house had a irs penelty against them. When she questioned them, they told her to screw off and then hung up.  She called back and the guy just kept hanging up on her.  Today same guy called back , this time had my name and a supposed case number,  again hanging up  on her when she questioned him .

Got 3 calls in 2 days, returned call and got this woman whose English was so heavily accented I could not understand. I told her to slow down speak clearer and repeat herself, she told me to "go to hell" and hung up! then checked this site - Scam

Got 3 calls from this number with the same message...over two days.    Thanks for the scam alert.

I've received several ph call from 415-506-1282, Julie Smith, who claims to be from the IRS.  She says trhat I needed to call her regarding a "time sensitive matter".  I called the number, just out of curiosity, and was switched to v-mail.  I didn't leave a number or msg.

I know that this is a scam!!!!

I just received two missed calls from this number (415) 506-1282 leaving a voice message saying this is the IRS do not disregard this voice message.  When I called back, it ringed twice and then complete silence.  Then I did a little research online and realize this is a potential scam.  Will not answer nor call back again.

I just received a message from Julie Smith who claimed I owed thousands of dollars to the IRS and will be taken to jail if I did not pay.

Instead of just posting the calls here, make sure you let the IRS know how big a problem this is.

I got a call from Julie Smith (automated message) stating that a claim against me from the IRS was in the process. The message warned me not to ignore the call and to call back immediately. Upon returning the call all I got were hangups and an answering machine.
