I received a phone message on 1/22/2014 at 8 AM on my home phone number a lady by the name of Atwat said she is calling from IRS, she new my name, she said it is very important not to disregard this message and call 415-690-1141 and to return the call as soon as possible before legal allegation take place. The phone number is VOIP from Belvedere, California (T-mobile USA, INC.)
I called the 415-690-1141 10 times and every time it said the caller voice mail is full finally some one answered and said I called IRS and asked for my phone number that they left message on after I gave her my phone number she said I owe back taxes and when I told her I have paid all my taxes on time even paid the 4th quarter tax on 3rd quarter for this year she hang-up on me then I called again and some one else hang-up on me the called again and a man answered and after I told him what happened he said he will investigate and call me back in 10 minutes which he never called back.
Be very careful and don't give them any information.

I got a call couple of times from this number 415-690-1141 and suggested that they are from IRS and I have some deficiencies in my tax filing. IRS is investigating currently. I figured out this was a fake call and suggested teleconferencing with my attorney the person hang up on me. They are using some kind of voice modulation on the other end.  

I too received calls on 22nd & 23rd the same way above as if calling from IRS and said I'm in default of some taxes and to call back.I called to 3 persons namely,Johnson Smith,Then a Lady who said she is incharge,and today morning with James.I enquired whether HE IS FROM INDIA AS THE PRONANSATION APPEARED INDIAN ACCENT.HE GOT ANNOYED,THEN I KNEW ITS A SCAM.
SOME OF THESE IDIOTIC TAMILS ALL OVER THE WORLD ARE A ROTTEN LOT WITH MANY DIRTY ATTITUDES!!!

I just got a call from a Michael Clark, VERY thick accent, saying that he was from the IRS, and that there was a discrepancy with our taxes, and NOT to disregard the call.  We go to H&R Block, so I wasn't worried about this, but here's the deal, IT'S A SCAM!  The IRS does everything by mail, and they ALWAYS give you an 800 number to call!  DO NOT CALL THEM BACK!  They're trying to get information from you to steal your identity!  When I read other posts it sounds like they have a script to read because it sounded exactly like what the guy said on my machine.

I have been receiving these calls as well. Same scenario same # 415-690-1141. They were able to get my home # and cell number then they hang up when questions are asked.

I also got call from this number 415-690-1141 and they knew my name. These are all conman and not from IRS. Please be aware of this and do not get trapped.

I just received the similar call a few minutes ago. I did call them back and they threatened that I owe some money for IRS, When I asked for details, they said IRS  and police will contact and deal with them. I called back again not able to follow what they said, make answered the call and hung up on me and did not answer my call at all

Now I found this trail of discussion, I agree this is some what of identity theft

I just received a call from the same caller ID, clearly a scam.

just had them call this morning with the same BS as everyone else. but figured it didn't sound right accent and he got very irritated with me. I knew it was bull IRS will send mail first I would assume.

i received a call from these people and on the line was a guy saying calling from irs and his name is jack lanstan batch no. 10582 and the address is 450 golden gate ave city of san fransico 94102 saying i have a some kind of tax violation filed by my local city.Please do not give any information and please report to your local authorites about this scam or go to local irs office in your area and report it and many times the office is inside revenue department.
please remember federal or local angies always send u certified mail they do not call your phone and they do not use a collection agencies

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

“This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,” says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. “If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don’t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn’t the IRS calling.” Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim’s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it’s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver’s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here’s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue – if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you’ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their “FTC Complaint Assistant” at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

I received a call from this number (4156901141) and the person left the following voice message ...here is the speech to text converted version -

This message is intended for XXXX-from-south-center(?) which the very second you receive this message I need you audio retain attorney off racket to return the call. The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. My name is Chris Brown from IRS that is the internal revenue service department hotline to my division is 4156901141 4156901141. Don't try to disregard this message and do return the call as soon as possible before any legal litigation-seriously(?) we have determined that there reached-at(?) the efficiency in your income tax. So goodbye and take care. I hope you have a good day."

My parents received a call from 415-690-1141 it was a guy from IRS, my mom knew immediately it was a scam so she told him never to call back he didn't take it so well and cursed her out then hung up

I got the call from this line. Looks like scam which is already posted on IRS site.
I also I reported it to FTC site.

I got a call from this people clearly a scam as they can not even speak English righ.

Some one named Edward Martin claimed to be from IRS called from this number about unpaid taxes and "legal document".  Since I am in tax profession, I know very well that this is a scam as IRS does not call this way and does not use VOIP number to call.  I asked for the notice by mail since this idiot did not know what I was asking and kept saying "legal document".  

I also received 3 calls within 10 minutes, similar to the ones described above, on 1-25-2014.

I hope these idiots are caught.

We got a call this morning claiming that a case was filed against my mom by the IRS, and gave a case number.  The guy asked us to call 415-690-1141 and talk to an officer, James Anderson regarding the case.
