I received an automated message from the IRS on my answering machine so I returned the call. The man who answered sounded like he was in a call center and he had a heavy Indian accent. He wanted my attorneys name for a case against me. I asked what case so he read a so called affidavit for tax fraud and that if I didn't cooperate I would be arrested and put in jail. By now this is very bogus bc I have an accountant. When I mentioned that he said I was to do my own taxes and not let someone else do them. I told him this is bogus and I didn't believe a word he said. He said someone from my local courthouse would be coming to arrest me and I said send them on over. He hung up.

Seems fraud.

This is the same call I got , and the same things were said to me. They also gave me an option of paying the taxes by a tax voucher by going to office depot so that it would be a out court settlement. They even did not ask me to verify myself as a bank would do.

This number has called twice this morning and I picked up the last call. Recorded message from a woman at the " IRS " urgent, don't disregard. I won't call back.  This scam has been in the news . I hope they are shut down, this type of threatening phone call must be so scary and upsetting to the elderly or someone who really does have problems with the IRS.

Called from irs not really irs

Same call - they are busy today - this has obviously got to be some sort of scam, the IRS puts everything in writing, and before any action would be taken, there would be several written notices - NOT calling these scammers back!

I got the call this morning, and I reported it to the actual IRS, and they said that this number is a fraud and they are trying to take my money. Also, I'm 15 so, why would I owe taxes

I received this call as well this morning at 10:17.  The recording says it is Officer Julie Smith with the Internal Revenue Service.  I did call the number back, but only gives a fast busy signal.  This is fraud and will be reported to the AG's office immediately.

They have called twice this morning and ive called back 11 times and the man just keeps hanging up n my face

Thus number has called twice this morning...when I called back the first time a man with a strong accent answered and said his name was Officer Chris...when u asked for officer Julie which was the name on the recording he hangs up...after a few more time of calling back and getting a few busy signals and vm the last time I called he answered like i was calling WEST and hung up again.

Got a call from this number trice today.. How do we take actions to stop such calls?

I got the same kinda call and i asked for his IRS badge number and ythey got verbally abusive and hung up.

I've been called 3 times today by this number which starts out with a recording from Julie Smith at the IRS.
When I call the number back they state they're the IRS and are doing an investigation on me but upon being pressured for proof of credentials hang up on me.
The last guy said " F____ You!" and then hung up.

Lol this just happened today to me and i called him 200x at least he was so mad that he said he was going to f my mother and also stated if you know this call is a scam why do u keep calling? Just keep calling him and harassing him, he does it to everyone else so lets do it to him

I have received this same call for the last two days.  It is a recording from Julie Smith claiming to be from the IRS.  I have not returned the call.  Will report asap.  

I am so glad i decided to look up this number .. this is the second call today... and it only 10.10 am thanks guys for your info...

Got a call from the same number, glad I googled it.

Got a recorded message from a Julie Smith supposedly from the IRS saying not to ignore this call and call back immediately pertaining to an urgent Internal Revenue issue.  

I understand several people have called this number back and got a rep asking for bank account info and other personal financial information.  This is a scam and should be closed down.

Please  be aware that a man by the name of David sounded like an Indian man said that I had 3 cases pending and that I will get arrested because  I had committed  fraud. I explained  to him why haven't  I received anything in writing and why are they calling me. He then proceeded and started asking me if I liked his pens and if I can take my bra off? I told him I am calling the police and reporting him. He laughed and kept talking nonsense and asking me to do stuff. This number should be traced and prosecute those make believe IRS

I received a call from an unknown 415-829-9531 source today and the following message was left on my voice mail:

Your retained attorney of record to return the call the issue at hand is extremely time sensitive hi officer julie smith from internal revenue service eric and the hot line to my position is (415) 829-9531 I repeat it's (415) 829-9531 don't disregard this message and you return the call before we take any action against he's goodbye and take care.
