caller id said California   left no message  annoying jerks

Answered phone, caller ID said call from Novato, CA (892 is a Novato prefix). After a few hellos, a man came on the line with massive background noise suggestive of a large call facility, addressing me by my married name, and asked how I was. Since that's always a giveaway that it's telemarketing, I said "that remains to be seen". There was no reply to that and the caller hung up. I called the number, which a Google search connected with an address in San Rafael, CA, and got an 'Out of Service' recording. Very annoying, and rather disquieting that the actual number being used couldn't be ID'd.

Just got a second call from this number. Answered but there was only loud background noise then hangup.

This number belonged to me 10 years ago and is now apparently being used to call and annoy people.

I get a call sometimes twice a day from this number. ID says California call. I let machine answer and they never leave a message.

This was my number 10 years ago. I received a call last night from someone in Novato who was getting relentless calls from this number. I contacted Verizon and AT&T. They explained that the telemarketer is "spoofing" with my old number to make it appear to be a local call. The phone companies said there is nothing they or law enforcement can do about spoofing. I can tell you this folks, it's not me and I am sorry it is happening.

A red flag to me is when the Caller ID shows the name of a state - or I guess, a city would be another one.  I never answer these unrecognizable calls.  If they leave a message, they are legit and I will call back.  These creeps are RELENTLESS and NEVER leave a message - so I am perfectly fine NEVER picking up.  Since they call numerous times per day (different numbers, etc), it is annoying - but I have learned to tune them out and actually feel pretty good that they are still wasting their time on calling me.  I keep a record of the numbers, and have started to recognize some that call over and over w/ the same number - but I think most of them change (or spoof) to new numbers to try and trick people.  Solar and saving energy (SDGE), lowering your mortgage interest rate and security callers seem to be the worst offenders.  And of course those ridiculous idiots "from Microsoft" telling me they noticed something wrong with my computer.

Luckily, since they do call 7 days/week, they do not seem to be calling after 9 PM or before 8 AM.

They have called me 4 times this morning, with no message left.  When I call back - no one answers.

I suspect it is A1 Solar Power in Concord-they are usurping old numbers and switching it up to call at all hours and days.

Repeated calls from this number and although I have a 707 prefix, the number they are calling is my cell and is in a 3-hour time change, so they ARE calling at weird hours for me. I've tried answering it to talk to them and they hang up. Tried calling back and the number is "out of service". This (and others) have been going on for many months. Hate it.
