I have a similar complaint and feel quite frustrated by the situation. I am told during each call, after I once again tell them that I don't know the person they keep asking for, that this info will be entered into the system (twice I've been "promised" only to receive another harrassing call). My major complaint is how rude these people are. I've been cussed at, insulted, etc. Everytime I ask for the caller's name, name of the supervisor, and today the name of the company calling, I am hung up on!!!! Most exasperating to me is that if anyone searched public records it would be obvious that we have had the number for 20 years without any association with the person they try to reach!

These people are the rudest people I've ever had contact with. Not sure if this is a BBB complaint situation or not.

ACRM initiated contact last week claiming that I had an outstanding Bell Canada bill from 2003 (yes, nine years ago), for $1000 which could be "settled" for $500.  Given the agressive nature of the caller and being a person who never fails to pay bills, I informed the caller that "this is a scam" and ended the call.  Immediately, a voice mail was left identifying himself as ACRM employee Mr. Miser? and stating that it was "IMPERATIVE that I call him back... that this was NOT going to go away!"  The tone was loud, agressive and perceived to be threatening.  The concern is that this company has the ability to negatively affect credit rating with no just cause..  As well, someone else may have been sufficiently intimidated by their bully technique to actually go ahead a pay a bill that was not theirs at all.  My message to a supervisor to express concern over ACRM's business practice has not been returned.  I have since learned that ACRM has had  its' accreditation revoked by the Better Business Bureau in April 2012 as a result of 36 complaints in 3 years.

ACRM apparently trains their employees in the art of bully techniques.  The Better Business Bureau  revoked the company's accrediation in April 2012 following 36 complaints in 3 years.
    BBB is still accepting complaints.

This was the last straw.  They contacted me like 3 times within 2 weeks. All times they advised me that I would be off the list within 48hrs.  Today, I faxed them a written statement stating I do not know the where abouts and I am not in contact with him.  Provide them with the ref #. and tell them not to contact me again. Thier fax number is 1.877.503.9458

I called them within 15 mins after the fax and provide them the ref# and I stated my name as Mr. Ray ******  They check the ref# and I am no longer on the list.

Check out consumer protection BC, even if you don't live in BC. http://www.consumerprotectionbc.ca/   Advises you on your rights.  After 6 yrs (at least in BC) they debt is gone, but it's counting from the last payment, or when original payment was due if you never payed a cent.  If you, or anyone they harass because of you, gives them so much as a $ the 6 year clock starts over again.
Consumer Protection BC have a ton of info and any form you'd ever need. There's one saying you're not the debtor. Fill out and fax to ACRM at 877-503-9458.  If you don't have a fax, mail at a post office; either way, get proof you sent the form and when, and keep a copy. Within a few business days they should leave you alone. It's highly illegal for them to continue, so if they do, contact consumer protection services. This is how their licenses get yanked or fines are given, usually the amount they're trying to collect isn't worth the risk to them.
They're harassing everyone with the same last name as me that they can find.  If you do owe, you can get a form at the same site for "communication in writing only."  Get proof you sent it, keep a copy, and they are never allowed to call you again.  Even better, they aren't allowed to call anyone about your file.  They can send you a ton of letters, but who cares?  Also Credit Counseling Services of Canada has a good website with forms. There's a "forgiveness of debt" request form. Find out your rights.  ACRM is super shady; they're breaking all kinds of laws.  Just try asking their name, they'll make one up. If you ask for an employee ID # of some kind, or a last name, they hang up.  Pass this on!
