I just got the same call.
They called my cell.
It rang once, I picked it up, and immediately they hung up.

Turns out it's Scotia Life Insurance...

he is right, its scotia bank. ive even told them to stop. i about to switch banks.

i got this at around the same time everyone else..and i didn't pick it up either.but it rang like once or twice and it stopped

i called back the number, and the message states they are calling on behalf of scotia life insurance

Not sure why they dont leave a message. Annoying.

My cell reports the number as:

+41 65 818 72 5, making it look like an international number...

received this call today, april 16th
didnt answer
they called my cell and let it ring out

I got 2 calls form this number...i missed the call...tried to call it back and all it does is hang up on you.
I have already told Scotia no for the life insurance months ago :S GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

i got 2 calls from that number too. so annoying, hope to get a chance to speak to someone to give them sh***t

They just called back - this time it looked like a real 416 number not like my previous comment.  When I answered, on their end the phone started to ring like I was calling them, so I hung up.  Telemarketing is hitting a new low if they can't even bother to be on the phone when they call you.

Scotiabank, shame on you.

I'm on Vonage (VoIP), but the number shows up as: 011 416 581 8725, 011 is over seas, so it's probably India phoning on behalf of Scotia Bank, who I told (then screamed) to stop calling me.  They've not.

FYI: Most telemarketing calls are computer dialled.  If the computer detects someone on the other end, it alerts the telemarketer to pick up his end, they found a live one!  Thats how this one works, that's why it started ringing when I picked up.

When I see ANY number call back without leaving a message, i just lift the receiver and hang it up immediately without even listening.

Got the call today. Guy did not pronounce my name correctly and had a thick East Indian accent. Couldn't understand him and when I told him I had asked not to be called by Scotia in the past, he hung up on me. Scotiabank = poor customer service in this regard. I have a small rainy day account with them and I am closing it now.

Yep scotia bank - I'm on the do not call list so why should I endure  calls from a contracted company?  Drives me nuts!  LOL

the blessing is I have rogers and can hit a button on my tv remote to send it to VM :-)

This could possibly be a number that gangstalkers use in Toronto. If you are an activist, "whistleblower," or a woman, you may be a victim too.

Call from this number and then a hangup. I call back and it is a voice prompt from Optima Communications International on behalf of Scotia Bank. with an option to leave a message. Sweet!!

This number keeps calling my cell...I don' answer it coz i figured if its important they will leave a message but never did. They call during the weekdays and even weekends...grrhhh
