I just got a call from these people, and no one was there...kind of spooky

calls twice a day no message when redial get busy signal

These people called 7 times yesterday.

We get a call every day from this number and we cannot call it back. It says the number is unavailable.  Can someone tell me how to stop these senseless time wasters?

I kept getting that call and I answered it!  The guy asked for me by name and then thanked me for donating to some police safety thing in 2006... I told him I never did and he said he had me down but I said I didn't, and then he hung up on me!  I tried calling it back and it was just a busy signal.  I have a feeling this is some advertising company verifying our names with our numbers...

I get this call at least three times a day. No one is ever there and you get bus y signal  when you call the number back.  Is there anything that can be done?

I found on another site that most of the people that are getting these calls are from Alaska.  I am, at least!  Someone also suggested you call your phone company and block the number.

I got a call from this number -- someone representing the Alaska State Troopers, asking for donations pledges.  I also get calls from people representing my ISP from out-of-state numbers.  I think the canvassing services have all been outsourced.  I'm in Alaska.

I got the call over the lunch hour today. I am in Alaska.

I'm in Homer, Alaska. I got a call from this number about an hour ago. No one there. I hung up before a telemarketer could pick up, if there was one.

The number is supposedly listed as the New Zealand consulate in Toronto, but that's not likely. On a similar web site people are being encouraged to contact the carrier for (416) Bell Canada:

I spoke with the Anchorage offices of Alaska Fraternal Order of Peace Officers and AK Police Officers Ass'n, who employ the same telemarketers from Alaska, are not currently calling people, and when they do it's for tickets to a benefit performance of some sort in Anchorage. I also called the Public Safety Employees Ass'n in Anchorage,  who employ a telemarketer from NJ, who calls on Wednesdays only, I didn't ask about what.  The I told them about these (416) jokers.  None of them had heard about them, and said there are a lot of scams around. They are keeping lists of such numbers and will look into shutting them down.

I suggest you follow the advice of contacting Bell Canada.

I too am in Alaska and just got a call from this number. Why would they target people in Alaska and who is it?

Thank you for the information about bell.ca.  Few things make me more cranky than just getting a toddler down for a nap and these creeps call..again and again...

I have been getting calls twice a day from these people and am getting sick and tired of it.  The above days and times are just the ones I have documented.  I have asked them repeatedly to remove me from their calling list, to no avail.  Most of the time there is no one on the line, but when there is someone, they are pretty insistant on getting a donation.

I am tired as well of this number calling my house.

I have recieved a call from these people several times a day for several weeks, I have also recieved calls about alaska state troopers needing money for a benifit ball or somthing like that. Getting tired of these calls.

This number has been calling my phone for over two months but hangs up when I answer.  My son answers and they hang up.  It is very annoying to get phone calls everyday sometime several days in a row and sometimes skips a day or two.  They called twice today.  Once when I was gone and once after I got home.  The phone company said to call the cops. What I don't understand is why they continue to call and never say anything.  Out of approximately 40 calls they spoke once and asks for my son by name.  I said he was sleeping and they hung up.

I get a call from this number at least once a day EVERY day.  I have never answered  the phone and they never leave a message.  They just keep calling back even though I never answer.
