6.23.2010    ARS (Associated Recovery Systems) Div of ARS National Services, Inc., www.arsnational.com, speak w/ Account Representative by calling (800) 456-5053, found locations in Holland, OH, also serveral in CA. See other complaints registered at www.ripoffreport.com, you can also post your own complaint. In my case this is in regard to Citi Business, on an acct Citi totally screwed up but I'm finally getting action once I contacted Askciti on Twitter...go figure. In 2004 California filed a class action law suit against them for underhanded business practices. I told ARS to send the case back to Citi and never call me again

    Citi guy replies to frustrated
Yes. Citi uses Collection Agencies, but have strict auditing on those that purchase debts from Citi. These auditors are constantly reviewing the practices of the many of the agencies that Citi sells accounts to.
Citi isn't the "cleanest" company out there, but I'm surprised to see that they do the level of auditing that they do.These folks hold these agencies to standards.
Now, of course, many of these agencies will keep many accounts out of view, so you may incur a bad experience with an agency collecting on a former Citi account.

If this happens to you, you should file a complaint with Citi, not the Collection Agency. Write a letter and address it to Citi Corp's CEO, Vikram Pandit. I gurantee that you will get a prompt response on what Citi is doing to keep Collections practices within the law, and what Citi will do for your case. Most likely, Citi will assign your case to a representative of their "Presidential Unit." This is a team of folks whose primary function at Citi is to handle disputes against Citi. They are not lawyers, but they work closely with Citi's legal team to handle your case appropriately. You will be assigned a specific worker to handle your case.

Granted, you should do your best to pay any debt owed. On that same note, debt collectors are required to follow the law when doing their job.

Citi actually has many, many programs to assist clients that have difficutly paying their debt. Talk to a Citi Rep to see what they are willing to offer you, before you let your account get sold to a collection agency. You might be surprised just how far Citi is willing to HELP.

So, after all that.... SCREW   ARS. They are a horrible company. I don't expect them to stay in business much longer once the 3 class-action suits are handed down. Unfortunately, they will most likely resurface under a different name.
By the way, ARS also handles a lot of CAPITOL ONE accounts too.

    Good luck to you!!
