    It's Carefirst calling. This number called my house twice today and when I answered, no one was there.  I called back and did reach someone; they said they have an automatic dialer that must have been malfunctioning.  (Yes, someone in this house does have health insurance with them, so it was legit!)

    They said they were from Blue Cross Blue Shield - health prevention program.  I believe it was legitimate. They had my home address and wanted to confirm that I was a patient in their system who might benefit from one of their education programs.

    i can confirm also - carefirst.  they keep calling, and calling, and calling...they want to add a "free" health service for one of my dependents.  i ask them how one of my dependent can change a policy they are not the primary on?  what is this about?  they say, "i'm sorry, but i am not able to discuss this patient's health information with you."...hmm, you want to modify my policy, via a dependent...
    It is a asthma database...they don't stop bothering you once you join!

    This number links to the company at this website they are making the calls www.healthways.com  you can call them back and opt out but they are very determined to find out your medical history.  If you ask me it is the ploy of the insurance company to try and find out your private medical history so that they can confirm or deny services to you.  Not something I want to participate in.  They do this service "health education courses they offer" for blue cross and at least one other insurance company.  They are very determined to glean information about your care and any possible or confirmed diagnoses.

    Very interesting information...makes sense, too. I'm also a carefirst member who recently participated in one of their free "educational" services.  Will have to watch this one.

    A few months ago, I called BCBS CareFirst to complain and the guy said he'd make sure it didn't happen again.

    Just to clarify, it is NOT CareFirst, it's a third-party sleazebag operation that wants to sell you their network of health clubs, etc.

    Total violation of privacy, in my opinion. How dare CareFirst sell my personal information.

    They call, but never leave a message.  Hmm...I am a member of BCBS, so it's probably because of that.  I do wish they'd leave me alone.

    I get calls from this number a few times per week. No message. I don't answer, of if I do no one is there and I hang up. Very annoying.

    What posts are you reading?  No, most people are agitated by the repeated calls and the continuous denial of being unable to be removed from the list.  (A list given to this company by a hospital or health care provider via bc/bs)

    The area is a little "grayed" on the previous relationship part since healthways is masking the "relationship" the patient had (through no fault of their own other than going to the doctor for care) with bc/bs and NOT healthways.  So, no real relationship exists, but your company somehow seems to think one does.

    No, the calling company, service and substance have no appearance of being "alright or polite" whatsoever.  No rapport has been established with the potential customer (mark) other than a random, unsolicited phone call which, on the surface is shady in the first place, but is even more called into suspicion when "the company" can't even identify itself as an organization which is not bc/bs.

    So, first the woman lies to you and says she is with bc/bs then (somehow) you find out that she isn't but then, since she works at the "behest" of an insurance company it becomes perfectly logical to establish a personal and business relationship with her. Then, to make matters even clearer, it is ok to engage in this because she received the information via a submission which may or may not have been granted for dissemination by the patient but since its for "education" on health conditions its perfectly understandable.  Uhhh, OK, fine, lets move on.

    Wow! you are impressing with all the jargon. What happens if someone doesn't want an "hra" over the phone, or doesn't want to discuss their medical condition with some stranger representing a company who's sole purpose is to determine the patients medical liabilities to the companies bottom line and who fronts a third-party to masquerade as a patient advocate only to receive further data which could potentially raise the rate the patient is currently paying or subject him/her to outright cancellation?  What about that?

    This is basically a repeat of the drivel from your first paragraph.  It has nothing to do with an auto-dialer and everything to do with not being harassed by unwanted and unsolicited phone calls from a company with questionable motivations in the first place.

    Sick and Tired of it
    This is a 100% dishonest scam!!!!  They call our cell #, no one on the line.  We call back, concerned that they are getting the wrong person still thinking it's possibly an important call.  Next, they "need" to know all the members of the family, just in case they need to speak ith someone else.
    When I gave even a hint that I realized what was up, suddenly, Lennet (sp?) couldn't hear me any moe, and had to "end" they call.
    This was after 2X asking them to stop the calls because I thought they had a wrong number.
    Carefirst should be ashamed of themselves.

    I'm not currently a BC/BS member but was some years ago.  Have been with UnitedHealthCare for several years.  Person calling seemed to know recent diagnosis though and asked for DoB, address, AND SS#.  UHC has similar but ligit program but very leary of Your Health Care due to questions by caller.  

    I asked person if this was a solicitation call and she advised that it wasn't but that her company was offering free educational information to be provided by email.  Just the same, I classify this call as an unwanted Telemarketer call trying to obtain personal information.

    I received a call from 443-430-7201. The women I spoke with said she was a nurse calling from BC/BS. She asked me my full name, address, and wanted other personal information. At that point I said what is this about? These people are not from BC/BS. They are not nurses making these calls. It is a company called Healthways trying to sell other services. In this age of Identity Theft,  I am greatly alarmed about this call. I told the caller I did not want their service and to stop calling me; however, the calls keep coming. I made a complaint with BC/BS who said when I called that they knew nothing about this call. I realize clerks answer the calls at BC/BS and perhaps do not know about any partnership Healthways has established with BC/BS. Never-the-less, I don't want Healthways having my personal health information or any other federal/banking info, including my SSN.

    I totally agree.  They claim that their education is free.  If Carefirst is paying them to annoy their participants then it is not free.  We are paying in our premiums for something we don't want.

    Also Healthways is a for profit organization. Their main goal is to provide profits to their shareholders. I am not interested in discussing my medical conditions with someone over the phone.
