- Skavoovie| 1 replySCAM ALERT
Scammers trying to trick people into installing malware on their computer by telling them they are from the "Technical Support Department of Windows". Thick Indian accent, tactic is to just keeping talking to try to convince a potential sucker to follow his instructions to download malware.
I jacked with the guy for about 5 minutes, coming up with different stories, I didn't have Windows on my computer, etc., etc.
Then I decided to tell him that I sold my computer -- while he kept telling me I needed to go over near my computer (where he was then going to tell me to download malware). After about 10 times of telling him that I sold my computer, he finally got it and asked, "You sold your computer?", so he hung up. HA!- Caller: Scammers

- Debra Kamps| 1 replyI was called on Oct 16, 2012 from 4692869841, no message was left. When I tried to call the number back to see who called I was told the number was invalid please check the number. I was called again from that number and couldn't make it to my phone, same thing number was invalid when I returned the call. I called my phone company they said they couldn't find out who it was. I was called a couple days ago from another number which was also invalid. Since then my phone has been dropping calls and not responding well to phone calls placed or received. I was called a third time on Oct 16 and I answered, when I picked up my phone was receiving a ring like I placed the call. A woman came on the line asking if I was Debra Kamps I asked who she was she said she was calling from the Federal Govenrment I asked what she said, she repeated I'm from the federal government something, I asked her to repeat it to hear the rest of it, she said I'm from the federal government grants program, got it? I said who do you think you are talking to me like that, she said Fck U and hung up. I looked up the number it says they are telemarketing company from Texas. Ok telemarketers now acting like Federal Government employees and on top of it I am on a no call list.
- Caller: looks like a telemarketing company

- Not StupidThis guy with an Indian accent call my house and try to make me execute commands on my computer. He identified himself as trying to remove malicious program from my computer. After telling him he was dealing with a computer guy and that I new what he was up to, he insulted me and hang up. I made a report with the FTC. Don't fall for anyone that ask you to execute commands on your machine, unless you know exactly who that person is. And that person should be a relative, friend or trusted professional.

- SolicitorH8erJust once, I would like to know exactly where they are calling from so I could pay them a personal visit to express my extreme hate of what they are doing. It would be a messy visit. It is the only way they will stop. The herd needs to be thinned out of these pesky rodents.

- enoughThis A.H called on 10/20/2012 at 8;30 AM. I was asleep when the phone rang. I answered the phone, but no one on the other side. I reversed the call and was informed that this number was invalid.

- edgot a call from some non-American accent saying the Microsoft had contacted the staff of Ceylon tech support to find out about system errors, when i asked for a reference number or some id. they repeatedly ignored me and asked if i want them to connect to my check my computer and then hung up.
- ray ray replies to Howardi called him as he was calling someone so the line went through but it was a bunch of noise and a heavy delayed echo in my phone when i would talk .........................CALLED ME 10 TIMES TODAY
- Concerned Citizen replies to JaeRabbitIt's been two months since you filed a complaint and I received the call today from the same number. I also called in an FTC complaint. I got the guy to give me his cell number and when I called it he answered. It shouldn't be that hard for law enforcement to track down these folks. I wonder what's taking so long.
- cbblades replies to crisI just got the same call -- I, too, was informed I was getting $7,000 in grant money from the government. A bit of a refreshing change from all the political robocalls!
- BobSomething to keep in mind about all these continuing bothersome calls for surveys, so called charities and so called charity pickups despite asking them to remove you from their list:
Call centers have sprung up in my town that make use of the survey and the charity loophole around the do not call list; they have been a headache for law enforcement, emergency services, neighboring businesses and residential areas. When I ask any patrolling officer in town about these call centers, they are quick to state their frustrations about the criminal activity that some of these call centers have brought into the area. Several law enforcement agencies regularly visit some of these call centers looking for warrant arrests etc. I have heard from sources including from frustrated employees that work for these call centers complaining about the drug activity, vandalism of cars and neighboring businesses, break-ins and theft, drinking while on the job, smoke breaks are actually marijuana breaks, drunk driving, very dangerous driving, tons of tossed out litter of empty liquor containers, trash, food etc. I’ve even heard that the mangers are also involved in criminal activities and have even preyed on their legitimate employees who are simply trying to eek out a living on horrible wages. Also the operators are untrained in a very high turn around, poorly managed and dysfunctional work environment.
Also realize this when you call a companies’ customer service line and get horrible service from the call center that’s been hired by the company. One time while on a call with our bank’s customer service, the operator was so loopy that it required ending the call and calling again to try and get someone else to help, think about that when you call a companies’ customer service and the conversation gets odd, off the wall and obtuse – you may be talking to an operator that’s drunk or on something. After 6 months of getting a different and wrong answer to our ongoing problem each time we called our bank’s call center, we gave up and closed the account.
With so little police left in our town due to cutbacks, they can’t always respond to vandalism and break-ins when it’s witnessed as they have their plate full responding to the major emergencies, this allows the criminal activity free reign, the neighborhood becomes the hood. Some insurance companies require proof of private security patrols before they will honor a claim due to vandalism or theft leaving the neighboring businesses off guard and uncovered. These businesses also have the added cost to hire private security, install security systems/monitoring, upgrade lighting etc. Then there are the dangers and headaches to the nearby businesses employees such as their cars being vandalized or broken into. Some businesses simply give in, pickup and move out of town.
One of my neighbors owns a call center and he requires that his operators are bonded, but I guess there’s no laws requiring this – there should be. Right now in my town it seems like anybody can start up a call center and hire questionable labor for cheap without much regulation.
I my efforts the past several years to try and get something done, I am most struck by the fact that there’s no real help, everyone is more worried about being sued than dealing with the obvious problem - you are on your own while the town is taken over by the crime these call centers bring into the neighborhoods....- Caller: OUT OF AREA

- Notconcerned| 2 repliesSomeone has been calling my number all this morning and just now. I decided to answer after checking the number here. It was a woman with an accent that sounded like she was in a crowded noisy call center. She told me very loudly over the noise that I had been approved for a grant of up to 10,000 but needed to confirm some info, afterwhich she would transfer me to another rep to process the app and move funds to my account. I asked her if she could mail it, she said she already did and gave me the details of my address. But insisted on transferring me I told her to remail the app. She said I'm trying to help you if you are not interested just let me know. I told her I am not interested and please don't call me again and she immediately hung up the phone.. Now I will wait to see what happens.
